JConcepts have released a bit of a surprise conversion kit for the 10th scale AE T4 truck, converting it into something more like a large 8th scale 2WD buggy - complete with one of their excellent Illuzion shells on steroids!

From JConcepts:
J82 conversion kit (http://www.jconcepts.net/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=228&zenid=b6a08a05bc7ed0e467d9b7d2f72814fb) - (converts RC10T4 to J82 - 1/8th electric 2wd buggy)Part # - 4002
(Converts RC10T4 truck to 1/8th 2wd electric buggy)

JConcepts introduces a revolutionary new vehicle concept, the J82. The J82 is the buggy of your dreams, combining the drivability of a 1/10th truck with the fascination of a buggy. The J82 is a terrific platform for drivers wanting to race on a bigger track with tough terrain. The J82 allows a brushless and lipo driver the opportunity to race with more confidence for an extended period of time.

Jason Ruona stated – “Trucks have always been easier to drive making them a popular choice in competition. The buggy class has always been looked at as the more prestigious class – Now the Worlds have collided.”

J82 conversion kit features:<o></o>

As soon as I saw it I thought - hmmmm, neo! but sadly I was immediately rebuffed and can't use it there. Oh well, it looks like a good option for rough terrain fun and for those truck owners that prefer the look of the buggy (and who doesn't!).

I am sure it will be a hit in the states but I feel it is unlikely to catch on in the UK.

10/10 for the idea though.

Probably not - the tyres don't suit most of our tracks, but for a fun buggy I'm sure it's great. I'd love to give one a race against 8th scale buggies though.

Had a look on the JConcepts site, and all you actually get is a shell, wheels, tyres, stickers and turnbuckles :S

I guess it lets people drive electric buggies on the sort of tracks that you see in the USA that are insane and too rough for regular electric buggies (because they're 8th tracks, and knackered)

I like it! but I'd like it more if I was allowed to race it at an 8th scale meeting.

but a T4 would ride a blown track better then a buggified truck, no?

see my comments above tho ;) I prefer buggies as do a lot of people. Trucks just FEEL like you're driving a lump of lard around!

yeah, but all that is, is a T4, with different wheels and shell, nothing else really, so it will still be ultra stable as it is long and wide.....

not clicked but would recommend you try,

http://www.dms-racing.com/

go to the catalogue link then schumacher, scroll down to 1/10 truck tires. Darren is also on here (dmsracing) and i believe still carries them as live stock, sure i saw some when i was there thursday

just followed your clicky, dms has wider range and that includes the minipin

Jimmy is spot on as to its purpose. Here in the US most tracks have gone the 1/8th route, and racing a 1/10th buggy out there just isnt possible. This conversion allows most people here (who have T4's collecting dust) to use them at their local track. Its handles the bumps far just like a truck (great), while reacting/steering like a buggy, but on a rough surface with big jumps.

I got an online shop looking to see if they can order me the parts I need, not the full conversion mind you.

Main thing with the rear wheels is that it gives it more of a buggy stance in the rear, porportional I guess to the fronts.

I am not worried about that, so I would only need the body and front tire setup.

I like the idea. Even if its just a converted truck.
