Hi folks, I'm on the scrounge again,
After seeing Caines car last week I have got the bug and I want to build one. I need a donor car or parts.

I would like to take it one step further and use a T2 chassis but depends what I can get for the right money.

I am going to use a few B4 and modern parts to use B4 wheels so most of the suspension, driveshafts hubs etc.

So i need all the chassis, suspension mounts, gearbox and bulkheads from a rc10t T2 or some Gt parts are useable

What you got ? :-)

Blimey after all the stick Axeman got for wanting to run a car released in late 93, you want to use a chassis not released until 1995 and replace the suspension with B4 parts!
Brave man! :D:lol::woot:

Wrong Pete...

Will have RC10 Worlds wishbones (circa 1994)

T2 chassis (circa 1995)

RC10T front kickup, steering, towers, bulkheads, wishbone hangers, (circa 1991)

Stealth Transmision. (1992, 94 or 95 depending on version)

RC10 shell, wing and mounts. (1992 for Champs Edition)

New parts will be wheels, axles f & r, hub carriers f & r, and driveshafts. (circa 2003)

Screw set from RC10GT (date unknown)

PETE: Would you like to average that lot out and see what year that makes the car? LOL

Maybe I'll go embarass the modern 2wd's instead of cutting every other corner in the "stuck in the past" race :p:lol:

It might not have a T2 chassis yet anyway, depends what I can find...

Come on then, what's people got I can buy, swap, deal ???

Ah that's different, when I read your first post it implied you were after a T2 to run with B4 wishbones on!!

TBH I reckon it'll be easier & cheaper to buy a complete RC10T and then sell the parts you don't need
Have you checked out RC10Talk.com for parts?

I want to build something very similar to Caines car, if you didn't see it you really need to. That's where the inspiration came from then I read RC10Talk and now I really want one LOL

Can't see the for sale section on RC10talk.

Have found all the stuff I need on 1 ebay shop but he wants way more than I am prepared to spend. For just the parts excluding wishbones it would be well over 100 plus shipping.

I haven't seen Phil's car, but I know the one you mean:wub
I thought it used the 10T chassis not the T2 tho, I'm probably wrong.
With RC10Talk you have to have a certain number of posts before you can see the trade section - I can post a wanted ad for you if you like?

I'm glad you like my car guys:thumbsup: i too got bit by the bug when i saw one!

I agree with pete the best way to go is get a 10T from ebay theres a uk one on there atm, however in the states for a donor truck you'll be looking to pay bout 30-40 quid which will give you a very very good base to start. I thnk people have gone down the T2 route and have achieved results but i think it has been a long job with a lot of modding.
As you said you can grab all the seperate parts, but the dealers on ebay break cheap runners and sell them at a stupid price.

Something like this would be perfect

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Team-Associated-RC10T-Truck-Parts-/250910800988?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a6b72fc5c

Alot of the sellers dont advertise selling to the uk, but in my experience after a nice message they they normally will.

If you get a donor truck anything you dont use i'll buy of you anyway, i'm a sucker for vintage associated:wub

It's a buggy Chris, someone's repro'd the worlds wishbones which gives it a wider track than the standard RC10 - they were super narrow and always rattled around in the scrutineering box!

Looks nice yes, but as they say looks are definatley not everything! I just hope it goes well or more to the point, i can drive it well. Which is questionable!

It was built for this vintage season, so i'm pretty sure it'll have a fair few battle scars by the end of it! (mostly from being lapped i fear!)

Gonna be fun:thumbsup:

janus_77

are those Schumacher rear arms?

Losi VLA Arms - with the outer hole cut away
Losi VLA Truck hubs - inner hole cut away
B4 axles - it works but a bit short, B4.1 units should be better.

You need to grind the axle spacers a bit, otherwise you're just a bit to wide with this configuration

Edit: found the parts list:

Rear:
- Losi 'CR VLA arms, cut away "long hole"
- Losi XXXT VLA hubs, cut away "short hole"
- B4 axles ( but like I said, B4.1 should be a bit better
- Stealth tranny
- Fibre-lyte shocktower
- B4 rear shock

Front:
- Fibre-lyte shocktower
- B4 20 deg hubs, drilled to make hingepin fit
( 20 deg is "-5" on a B4, so its actually a 25 deg on a RC10)
- T4 inline axles

Si: I have been trying to find out the same thing.

From what I have read they are "the same as Worlds" not sure if that means they are the same as AE wide track wishbones (as fitted to the Worlds car) or if they are the same as the RPMwishbones or if in fact the RPM and the AE wide track wishbones are the same.

Really need a RC10 boffin involved at this point.

What's with the trend for truck based cars? If you use a truck nose do they not end up longer? Don't the truck shock towers cock up the shock angles?

peetbee
20-10-2011, 11:57 AM
G, I think the wheelbase ends up pretty much the same as they redrill the mounting holes, the truck shock tower is used with wider track front wishbones so the lower mounting is further out than with the standard buggy width.

With the truck nose the car ends up the same length as our modern day 2wds (its about 8-10mm longer than standard rc10), you can re-drill the nose plate to bring the length back to the original RC10 spec but then if you are widening the wheelbase front and back a little extra length never hurt anyone...

Most people run the RPM worlds front tower which is slightly lower not the truck front tower, I don't have an RPM tower yet so left the truck one on for now.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0160z3t/Top_Gear_USA_Episode_1/ - it reminded me of Top Gear about 2-3 years ago when the films still seemed a little un scripted and they look like they are having a laugh.. They are already on season 2 in the states and they do get better as they all gel. Jumping a Cadalac Coupe was funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRaSVHqc49E&feature=related

But check RC10talk, all the proper RC10 boffin / nut-jobs are located there

The Dynotech arms are the same config. as the long (!) RPM arms. Normal length RPM arms are still easy enough to find. But the long ones are pretty rare by now.

Narrow: original AE RC10 arms
Normal: AE Team Car / Worlds car + RPM RC10 arms
Long: AE "prototype arms"* + RPM Long arms + Dynotech + Cut Losi VLA
Really long: RC10T arms, but you need to make special bulkheads / rearplates to make that work. (And it drives like shit, so don't bother.... )

* good luck finding these :D

With the rear arms, as the dynotech arms are the same length as the rpm worlds, by using them on the standard chassis your giving a lot more rear end width as well. Apparently on the RPM ultra chassis the rear end was narrower making the width the same when you used the longer arms, also in the conversion kit there was a template to cut down the width on the back of the tub. If that makes sense:confused:

With the car having these arms front and rear they say it is the same footprint as a B4 or near enough.

True, but now you can just mount them on the normal position and just use you normal "flatdish" B4/X6 wheels instead of the older "deepdish" RC10 wheels. It's just a real plus if you have a B4 / X6 / Cougar / ...... , you can just use tires/wheels you have left from your normal race car.

All you need is longer drive shafts ( B4 / B4.1 )

WAX: is that your car? And was that your first post on oople? Nice one :-)

Last question then, I still don't get why you would run 1.02 shocks on the front. As you would likely need a custom front tower anyway cos rpm worlds tower is so rare, why not get one made to fit say B4 length shocks?

Ps. I used to have an RPM car, no idea where that went Doh!

Dont think you had all the different shock sizes back then, so if the short ones had to little length to work with the longer arms you HAD to use the long stuff.

But now just use B4 / Losi front shocks and have Jonathan make a shocktower to work with that. ;)

Fibrelyte still do the RPM tower if you wanted, but I'm sure you'd be able to arrange a tower for different shocks easily enough!

Having now had a complete change of plan for the vintage series (top secret) i have a spare RC10 graphite complete but not the best if anyone is looking for a cheap vintage car.

Cheers

WAX that looks amazing! Not a green fan myself, I noticed the green screws in the last pic. Ive only just started collecting rc10 bits but I should hopefully be well on the way soon. Loving the polished edges to all the chassis parts and the cut down nose looks neat. Definitely giving me some inspiration.

Ps caines car looked awesome Friday, has spurred me on to get it done

Good job Caine and Wax.

Cheers for the comment:thumbsup:
Mine will never be as clean as that XX, be nice to see one running! infact it always good to see someone that isnt scared to run a new car, exactly as gaz did last year. No point them being sat there to look at.

Thought I'd ask you guys first ... I'm selling my worlds chassis, it's never been used outside and is pretty clean, the sides have been trimmed down a little to lower the bodyshell other than that its stock ...

I'm open to quality offers but not asking the moon for it so if your interested let me know

Nope, that was the modded version with the longer arms.

This is the Worlds version, all uncut and original  just the chassis mind and not inc the nose piece or chassis tubes ....
