Who is booked in?

I hope the weather stays as it has been this week. Might need sunglasses for practice though.

James and I are both going. Ash, Mike, Jeff?

(Edit: = _sleigh_ = It's Sunday the 24th, unless you work to a differnet calendar to the rest of us :p )

What tyres for 4wd please guys??

RogerM
20-02-2008, 10:44 PM
BB Minis ... pink when damp, green when dry. I'm sure other stuff works as well but these seem the most popular.

Budgio .... PM me you e-mail and I'll send you a great starting set-up for the ZX5-SP. Do you have any Kyosho springs yet? I will also have spares with me if you get stuck. There may well be another ZX5-SP on a maiden voyage there too.

i'm not commenting on my repair bill from today :cry::cry: The B4 seamed a nice car to drive today when i could keep it in one piece. I still havn't decided fully what car i am running in 2wd yet this season. Thought that the track was good today, and it was just nice that it wasn't like a ice rink . looking forward to the next round at Kiddy.

Hello!

just wondering if there are many outdoor meetings in march? local ish to Hereford, so the mid-west meetings would be great.

I could do with giving the B4 and B44 their (and mine!) maiden outdoor runs before the regionals.

Thank you,

Chris.

Best cut your losses Ash and get a B44.. you might be able to sell the losi for spares....?

I must agree on the Atomic Carbon B44. Andy G's car looked great . It is all a tight fit though.

RogerM

Was a top day.

I was expecting an ice rink track too so softened the RB5 up by a spring and 5wt all round .... ooopppssss mistake. LOL

Put it back to the "standard" generic set-up I have and went reasonably well with it, 2 x 5th in rounds meant 6th on the grid for the A ... had a bit of a battle with Robo after an "interesting" first lap. Not sure where I finished, middle to 3rd qtr I guess. A LONG way higher than I would have been with the B4 that is for certain!!!

Think Tom won it in the end .... not 100% though.

Looking forward to Kiddy now ... and Newbury then Cov again.

Ashley ..... another forced X-factory conversion maybe ... LOL ... hope you find a chassis.

Seriously, bad luck with that .... Cov can be a car killer, last time I was there one race I marshaled I ended up with every XX4 running broken at my point after 3 mins :o

(Before anybody thinks that is a XX4 hate post I was just trying to illistrate how hard Cov can be on cars .... I had a broken D4, 2 BJ4s and something else as well during the day and I was marshalling the double jump)

Haha... nah not quite, I was leading until 2 laps from home and then broke it! DOH. So many crashes today, it had to give up some time.

I enjoyed it today the Coventry track is really quite good when it's dry, but I MUCH prefer it ran anti-clockwise than the clockwise route we took today... that double in the middle is so much easier going the other way, the up slope is all deformed on the clockwise route lol can't think of a better way to describe it... but that is just my view.

See you all at Kiddy.

At one point it was looking like you might make 13 laps .... and there were only a couple people in the 12s and a couple more in 11s in 30x :o

Simon Overall won 2wd, I came in 3rd.:D

I managed to race 2 cars all day and not break anything, including a B44 on its maiden voyage in disguise as a BJ4. Std B44's were 4th (Stu Harlow) and 6th (Me)in the A ash, Atomized B44's and an aero were all that beat them I think.

Great track today. Must of been one of the only racers today who didn't break anything.
The doubles in the middle are very random. 1 lap get it right next lap take the same line and speed and end up crashing. Wonder if the wind has anything to do with it.
Atomized B44's looked great today as well as the Aero.
Bring on Kiddy next.

R1- turnbuckle broke
R2- 4th in round!
R3- Bulkhead broke
R4- Servo decided she was going to have a hissy fit thus ending the day

On a positive note i packed up early and got home for the Carling Cup Final and for a bloody awesome result!

If anyone heard my B44 today and wondered why it sounded like clockwork.. it was just the spur. Replaced it and it's as good as new. Talk of me needing new gear boxes were premature I am pleased to say :)

I agree Tom, the anti clockwise route is far better. I hardly messed up on the double four weeks ago but this time I had my buttox clenched eachtime I went over it... :woot: The fact you loose sight of the car just behind the first ramp does not help!

Is there not a BRCA rule about being able to see your car as it goes around the track??

25-02-2008, 08:38 PM
In the final i jumped the double every time until the last lap when it made sense to roll over them. I think it's 0.5 to 0.75 seconds a lap quicker to jump which is going to save 6 to 9 seconds a race, its a lot of time to save but did anyone manage to jump them every time?

Body Paint
25-02-2008, 08:59 PM
Nope, not me. typically I needed marshaling twice a race on the double, 4 seconds each so still 1 second quicker than rolling them. Still high risk though, given the amount of breakages on that one section alone.

bit of a mad one for me, never snapped anything on my d4 before or crashed a real full sized car before. Managed both that day:o

never drove a track quite like that before but thought it was ace, just need more practise. Also learnt what setups dont work, which is valuable experience too.

twice a race plus the 2 seconds per lap you lost with the BIG AIR time you animal.....

griff, i was hoping as i was marshalling the top 4wd heat i wouldnt have many to put back on there wheel's...how wrong i was:p:p the first 3 times per round were marshalled within 3 seconds m8, after that i lost interest :-)
