new zx5?

I've been phoning round this morning to get some prices on a zx-5 sp, I spoke to someone from a shop down south, who said they have a new 08 zx-5 on the shelf with a saddle pack layout chassis.

Does anyone know anything about these? I've had a quick look about but can't find anything.

Quite a few people think the ZX5-SP is the car they ran at the worlds .... the suspension is but the chassis layout isn't as they soon found out that the BJ4WE layout doesn't suit everybody / every track no matter how well it went at that one event on that one track!!!
Most of the team drivers have reverted to the old chassis from the "worlds" one, certainly all the guys in the USA and Japan that I am in contatc with!!!

Get the ZX5-SP ... great car.

The ZX5 SP is the latest car from Kyosho. It must be a SP with the KMC kit that they have for sale. How much was he asking for it?

PBM Racing are doing the ZX5 with the SP kit for £200.

From what he was saying, he has built one for himself and it has got that chassis, also supposedly they come straight from kyosho europe, with a zx5 kit and a seperate conversion for the chassis. :confused:

To be honest all i want is the extra steering lock, ran my old zx-5 last night, and it struggled with the tighter corners, having to slide it round just lost me time.

Also while i'm on does the sp kit have more suspension travel, as the original one i've got just doesn't seem to have much droop etc.

He thinks the kit part no. is 30076 and doesn't know what the conversion part number is.

I think he means "rear-mid-conversion" ..... as in the slightly narrower rear end mods. (Part numbers will be 30076b + LAW34). This is not a saddle pack car.

I would say that your better off buying a proper SP kit .... order part number 30077b (will get kit + LAW35 conversion if your car is coming through FDL). The price the SP seems to be going for now makes it THE bargin at the moment.

I have just ordered a 2nd car form DC racing and his price is VERY competative. I think he has just ordered a few for some others too.

Everybody who has driven my car seems to love it ..... I have converted Losi XX4 drivers, Yokomo drivers, BJ4WE / B44 / D4 drivers and a couple of existing ZX5 owners ..... just a Pred driver (unless you count me) and an X5 driver to convert and I'll say FULL HOUSE ..... lol

You wouldn't have to get into this debate again if you weren't trolling the internet, slamming the BJ4 and its "clones" everywhere you go. Stick to promoting your car with its own merits, rather than attacking what is obviously the most successful platform currently available.

You can trust your sources, but I'll trust my own eyes. Check out Post #25 in the attached thread.

on a side note, the sp kits on sale earlier this year were made from standard car kits with an sp 'pack' added, by the distributer.

the new sp kits which are coming soon will be the global release sp kits. they do not have the saddle pack chassis.

some stores do still have first release zx5 kits as well as the later kits with the law34 upgrade. with the release of the newer sp this will be the 4th variant in packaging BUT not 4th generation of car.

Good description there pro4nut. I don't think we will see the "global" SP kit in the UK for a little while yet .... but it can't be too long. Nothing wrong with the current arrangement either as you get the 1-ways you won't get with the global SP kit.

Either way you can't loose.

I like to read this forum after a longtime because there're always plenty to read...

Anyway just to clarify a few things:

1 - The Lazer ZX5 SP "30077B" will reach UK market within 2 weeks or so. Many shops already Pre-Orders them :thumbsup:. It can be consider as a new kit because there are many new parts and changes.

2 - For info, the actual bundle "30076 + SP Conversion Kit" is totally discontinued at Kyosho UK.

3 - Kyosho has no intention to design and offer a new Kit at the moment, there is no ruch, no special need knowing that the Lazer ZX5 SP is better than the previous one and offer a wide range of abillities and is more efficient than ever.

4 - The saddle chassis used by all our KRF drivers have been made for the WC and it's actually a standard Lazer ZX5 SP + an "home made" saddle chassis + TF5 SD transmision parts + other kyosho parts from their large range of GP Offroad 1/10 Kits.

5 - For sure a new kit won't be released but maybe an Upgrade or Conversion kit. For those who know very well Kyosho, it won't be a surprise but for those who are not familiar, it can be very confusing. But all i can say, it's a Kyosho abbit and it works. In case of a new kit reach the market, it will be definately a killer because all drivers and all engineers are working hard to built a strong EP range of products. With many well know RC People in board now, we just have to wait and trust the actual kit.

6 - In 2008, Kyosho UK won't have a Team as many are looking for. But it's an honest choice for our customer because at first you don't built succes with a Team but with a KIT..... There is no point to invest in a big Team at the moment because we are not strong enought therefore you will find only Shop drivers that we will help because they want the product and they trust it. So if you feel that you deserve a shop drive, do not hesitate to contact your local shop and ask them to contact us if they are happy to help you in return.

May i take this opportunity to say thank you to all Kyosho users and fans..... My biggest wishes are an All-In-One "The Product , the Power & the Dream Team" like in our Gas classes. So wait & see, we are all working hard at Kyosho UK for my wishes, dreams and more.....

I'm still confused :confused:

First came the so called "SE" kits, which were an original ZX5 + LAW34 (mid rear conversion)

Next came the "SP" kits (K30077)that had the new style front hubs (LAW35?) and re-styled bodyshell. This car is currently in stock in several shops.

So whats the difference between the above car and this K30077b thats coming out in two weeks time???

Firstly the SP has a new rear end as well as front end, it's a totally different car to drive than the original or LAW34 equiped ZX5.

The main differences between the current SP (ZX5 + LAW35 upgrade) and the global SP are .....

New "velvet" coated shock bodies (with more adjustment for ride height too)
Tripple cap shock cartridges (same as RB5)
RB5 length shock shafts (42 and 50mm rather than 38 and 54 in the original)
Teflon sealed bearings rather than metal shielded
The global SP kit comes with the LAW31 ali front hinge pin brace
One piece motor mount
Allen head screws throughout
No one way options included in the "global SP" kit
Dark yellow shock springs rather than silvers

Depending on your point of view the global SP kit (30077b) could be better value than the older car + LAW35 ...... some may think otherwise.

Either way you end up with a sweet handling car so whos to complain!!??!!

They will do well, there are none left!! Kyosho UK sold out over two weeks ago, new car (SP kit, not old kit with conversion) doesnt arrive until early/mid March.

John, its good to have an official word on the situation. So no brand new car but on going development of the Sp, that will put a lot of Sp owners mind at rest! :thumbsup:
