The Tamiya wheels as they come do have a pin prick of a hole in them, but should i be making it bigger?
Whats the benifit of putting holes in the wheels, is it better to have them or not, better for wet tracks or high grip tracks?
Would like to know before i put my tyres on really. (For a 502X)
Ta muchly!

The holes are for "venting" air from the tyres, to aid in landing jumps etc., in controlling how much bounce the car takes on landing. How big should the holes be? There's no real answer, definitely larger than a pinhole, as it's a tuning aid based on personal preference.
my understanding is that the holes are in the wheels to let the air out.
8th tyres sometimes have similar holes

rather than drill a hole in the rim, just make a hole with body scissors in the tire.

Bad idea!
If you have a proper hole punch (or leather punch) - yes, putting holes in the tires is an option. But just using scissors will leave a nasty hole with rough edges that could cause the tire to rip.

Leather (belt) punches are ideal for putting holes in tyres and leaving round holes which aren't stress raisers (where a rip would start). In wet or sandy conditions holes in the tyre are better as they let out the water/sand but say indoors it doesn't really matter.

use a body reamer to open up the pin holes to the desired hole size, i normally just follow lee's setups..

If it's wet make holes in tyres to let water out as dan said.
Fastrax actually make a tyre punch. It's great
