What rims on x2c with stagger Ribs ?

Am i right in saying that these tyres, & Cut Staggers require fitment on to narrow rims ie, narrower than the standard Ansmann 2wd front rims ?

Is the solution to cut the in board section off the kit rims or use another another make of rim ie, Schumacher narrow & modify the fitment ?

Also, i've seen a few people who run these tyres without inserts, is this normal for these narrow tyres ? (if not, what compound/colour inserts are recommended ?)

The Stagger-Ribs used to come in both regular and narrow widths (I know I still have both in the pitbox), while (I think) they and the Cut-Staggers only currently come in narrow. Rims on most cars today allow you to fit 4wd fronts, so what most chaps do is cut off the inside rib/bead so as to run narrow tire options.
Running with/without foams is IMHO a personal preference, tuning aid, sort ot thing - some guys do and some don't. It's up to you.

My new stagger ribs are marginally wider than my new cut staggers but you're saying mount the narrow cut staggers on the normal rim & the slightly wider stagger ribs on slim rims ?

Plus Ansmann only do one width 2wd front rim, not 'slim' ones, so, as others have said, best cut the normal rims down ?

The new cut staggers were designed to fit normal front wheels, the old ones for the slim wheels, i just cut some normal wheels down to the first inside rib and took the other internal rib out and dont fit an insert in the old staggers, tried it and they handled really badly, the old ones should have a certain amount of movement in them to create the grip needed, its kind of like they have a baggy section close to the rim, hard to explain but it works. if anyone wants I have the use of a lathe here and can trim some wheels down for anyone that wants them done.
I tried 2wd inserts in the new cut staggers and found the tread pattern seem to sink in the middle, fitted 4wd inserts and they fit a lot better and have a more rounded profile to them so you use the full tread pattern and they work a lot better that way, hope all that makes sense.

I run cut staggers with no inserts on standard rims on my x2c. If you cut the inside edge off they don't fit properly for me. I only cut the inside edge off when fitting the mini pins and I run those with inserts.

Have a look at the Kyosho narrow front wheels, saves any cutting and almost the same price.

Well this evening i've cut the inside section of my Ansmann regular 2wd front rims to make them 'slim' & fitted my new 'slim' Stagger Ribs, without inserts.

All ok, this seems to replicate exacty what i borrowed off a fellow racer last sunday for our grass track & it handled (for me) really nicely.

Tbh, i can't see how there is any room for inserts with this set up, i'll give 'em a go next time.

No, they still make Stagger Ribs - but Cut-Staggers could reasonably be consider the "more steering" replacement for Stagger-Ribs.

Hi Danny,not sure as a rule they are usually specified as slim. When I had my rb5 they were the wider fronts like the ansmann and I think they were that part number.
It is more expensive but use b4 front steering arms and shafts as they fit(when drilled out to 3mm) which will allow the use of most wheels Inc the Schumacher rev lite slim wheels etc or as mentioned get the kyosho rims as IMHO they are better quality than the ansmann rims and cut them down.
