I take it there are a few people out there who are struggling on how to fix the body on the new c4 conversion......
Is there anybody out there who would be interested in purchasing a C4 moulded undertray.... MAYBE in time for Chadderton?
p.s Just looking at numbersat the minute

I know it's not the undertray but this was posted on FB a few days back
CML Distribution (https://www.facebook.com/pages/CML-Distribution/340325953318)
I made these little body mounts today just to see if they would work ! And I looks like they do !
I just cut a square piece of lexan out of the waste at the rear of the shell ! Approximately 40 x 60 mm then cut it down it's length !
Once I had the two pieces around 40 x 30 mm I measured 10 mm in from the edge and put a 90 degree bend in it along it's length ! Then just sandwiched it between chassis and lipo cradle !
Bit of Velcro on these and the shell and it's secure enough to go racing :-)
B4.1 front body mount and these and it's sorted !

Hi Lads
The under tray pictured on Oople is still in the prototype stages at the moment but we’re testing the final prototypes at the race track this Friday to ensure a good fit and no cracking occurs. We should have 3 cars with them on to test so all going well we’ll then be happy to release them for general sale.
Keep an eye on the site www.radio-racers.co.uk (http://www.oople.com/forums/www.radio-racers.co.uk) for them popping up in the new products section on the left hand side, all going well this should be Saturday.
The site takes Paypal or RBS Worldpay and we’re expecting the under tray to be £11.99 RRP. It is made of 1.1mm Lexan which is pretty sturdy and quite a snug fit.
Cheers
Mitch

Just to let everyone know the undertrays are now back in stock and we have plenty. They were packaged up yesterday afternoon and available on our site :)
Sorry for the delay but this time of year is quite busy for us in the shop so undertrays had to take a back seat for an extra week.

anyone had bad undertray, mine doesn`t fit and looks like it was formed from melting in the oven. The sides aren`t formed properly and pushes the bodyshell out and won`t fit the front properly either, tried to get hold of the but no reply, def won`t be using them again.

First things first turtle
The undertray are all formed from a original C4.1 chassis.....
Secondly the reason the undertray does not seem to fit correctly is not NOT down to the formation of the undertray. The Lipo holders that you receive with the C4 kit over hang the chassis, and in particular in one corner where the chassis narrows on mine was overhanging by 4mm. This in turn makes the chassis look like it does not fit.
Simply get your sanding disc out on your dremel and grind down the lipo holders till they are flush with the chassis
Problem solved
I have never had problems getting hold of the lads at RR.... except on a weds & sunday WHEN THEY ARE CLOSED... Did you try and ring them on a weds or sunday?

The lipo holders are flush with the chassis, thats not the problem it doesn`t fit front end around steering, can`t get dremel on that part, must have been a bad batch but still not impressed with undertray, haven`t phoned but have left emails no reply.

Mine is very poor, they obviously designed the undertray with no thought for the body

mmmmm Interesting.....
Quick question... What came first the chicken or the egg?
I think you will find the undertray is a very good snug fit to the chassis... The question you need to be asking is why did they design the body without thinking about a undertray.... Lets be honest, the centro bodyshell is sh1t.... There is no depth on the body to ALLOW for a undertray and looks short at the sides even without a undertray.... There is no room under the body AT ALL for electrics and using thumbscrews for holding the battery down
I think the problem lies with the shell and not the undertray
estebandonde
30-01-2012, 11:44 AM
As I beleive the shell is a CR2 shell and has been around a while and whilst I agree the shell is not the best if you are going to design an undertray to go with it at least make it fit both the chassis and the only shell on the market, or failing that don't make one if it's going to fail
At the moment mine does not fit without some severe cutting that I'm not really prepared to do
The undertray is going in the bin I'm afraid

your getting off subject wupding with the body being sh*t i have no issues putting my electrics in, it fits fine, its the undertray thats the issue. It doesn`t FIT. Maybe others haven`t had issues but i have thats why i wrote on the forum to see if others have had similar issues.

Hiya,
First off I'd like to sat sorry to hear about the problems you've been having Gsxrturtle. On hearing that you've tried contacting us i was keen to find out why this is the first i've heard of it. Checked all the inbox and spam from the last 2 weeks and we've not got any emails regarding the C4.1 undertray apart from stock enquires so i'm afraid i can't help with that one.
We're only ever at the end of the phone, which probably is the best way to ask us anything really.
With regards to the undertray course we'll do something about it. But first just a couple of things to suggest to avoid any confusion. We have always found the best way to mount it is to first bolt in the rear hinge pin brace and then go forwards. The other thing is obviously bodyshell clearance. With mine I have cut the front down slightly to allow for the lines of the shell, but this obviously depends on the height of the shell. Other thing is are you using the velcro from the packet? Only reason i ask is when using a velcro with a sponge backing obviously this moves the shell out. Lastly the chassis hasn't been bent has it? If it's none of the above then please contact us and we can resolve the issue.
Oh and as for being formed in the oven i can assure you it's not, to buy a new vac former equivalent to what we use is in the region of £5,000.
I'll try and get a picture of mine fitted later on for you. But if you have any queries then our number is 01772 458383 and best to ask for either myself Shaun or my college Mitch.
Hope either this post or some action resolves any issues you've had.

Is there a knack to fitting?
I've been trying to fit my Radio Racers undertray and it's proving to be approx 1mm too narrow and short...
Depending what end I start fitting from, when I get to the opposite end the the tray edge is short of the chassis edge, ie. countersinks don't align to holes (obviously haven't drilled these last unaligning holes yet).
More of a problem is the width: it doesn't quite squeeze over the widest points of the chassis, such that it doesn't sit flush to the underside and the sides are flared outward because of this.
Am I missing a trick/technique, such as warming the tray in hot water to let it stretch??
