Mad Monkey = TeamC?

Hi guys

Just getting into 2WD racing (again).

I'm looking for a new car, and I'm considering a Mad Monkey, but have a couple of Q's I'm hoping you can help me with.

Looking at the manual I can't seem to understand if it comes fully ball raced or not. The manual says something like "Oiled ball bearing" - does that mean a standard ball bearing?

Another Q. Does the Ansmann cars use the same parts as TeamC cars? I think I have read somewhere that it is the same manufacturer, just different companies that sells them. Do you know if this is correct? We have an TeamC dealer near by, but the prices of the cars is much higher than Ansmann cars - but it would be nice to have easy acces to spares.

Welcome, the MM doesn't come ball raced, £10 for a set of bearings so not the end of the world. Standard shocks are pretty junk too but nothing that cant be upgraded easily enough. People suggest upgraded idlers and running ceramic balls in the diff, less than £20 for the lot so again not the end of the world.

The Team C cars are the same, I think its the TC02C thats the MM equivilant, spares can be shared, ansmann parts are fairly easy to get hold of too so shouldn't be a biggie either way. :thumbsup:

Fron what i can see:

TR02 = Mad Rat RTR
TR02C = Mad Monkey RTR
TC02 = X2
TC02C = X2c

Unsure if you can actually purchase either the TR02 or TR02C as kits only (ie, not RTR) doesn't seem so according to www.teamcracing.net (http://www.teamcracing.net) & www.tcmodels.net (http://www.tcmodels.net)

My brother and I have now ordered a MM and a ball bearing set.

When we race the cars, we'll see if new shocks are needed, or its just a question of learning to drive better :lol:

The guys who own the track we are driving on, are selling Team C parts, so we plan to start out cheap, and gradually chance parts to Team C as we break stuff....(a Team C car is twice as much as we have paid for the MMs)

New Q. Can you fit a normal size servo, or is there only room for a low profile servo?

Twice as much because it's RTR only i guess.

Its also because rc cars in Denmark is more expensive than buying them in England or Germany. So the standard Team C car ( not rtr) is 139£ in Denmark :woot:

Am i reading that correctly £139 for a mad monkey of £139 for the x2c.

X2c is a better spec of car and sells for that approx in uk. Tbh if mm is that (£139) I'd just order from the uk and have delivered to you. Far cheaper method pal.

Maybe I wasn't very clear.

I haven't seen what a MM is in Denmark (I don't even know if you can buy one).

My point was that the cheapest Team C car my local dealer has, is priced at 139£, which sadly is more than I can pay right now.

My brother and I has bought a MM each, in Germany, and bearings in Uk, which was the cheapest way we could get a car, that we can get parts to locally. Including shipping the total cost is approx. 150£ for two cars and bearings :thumbsup:

You are better going for the x2c, I run a madmonkey as a second car at club,it was kit at £65, but by the time you fit better shocks,bearings etc the x2c is better value for your money. I have also heard the madmonkey in kit form has be discontinued by ansmann,you will soon only be able to get the rtr one

Actually the main criteria (along with the money issue) was that the car had to have a center motor and take stickpacks, because thats what my other cars use.

It was kind of hard to find cars that did take stickpacks, and neither the x2c or the Team C cars could that.

We actually only found two cars, the Ansmann MM and Schumacher Cougar SV, where we could install stickpacks, without needing to buy extra parts. We have probably missed some, but everyone seems to go with saddlepacks these days :confused:

Ahh, I see, yep thats why I play with a madmonkey,I have all stick packs.so yes in that case madmonkey:thumbsup:, cougar:woot::thumbdown::thumbdown:(sorry I hated mine that mutch) or an X6
