Hey, grateful for any pics, great to see it!

Couple of quick questions, I assume there's a shell and a set of wheels in with the kit? Also, are the instructions in English? Or big pictures so easy to follow anyway?

Lee
28-02-2008, 09:13 AM
The kit was a really good build, it really is Xray quality i am very impressed not 1 second of filing or dremelling required:thumbsup:

The only thing i would say is although the manual is written very well, they give no hints to setup, they also say stick a 1.4mm spacer under the brace for the anti squat but it does not say what a 1.4 mm spacer gives in terms of degrees. It is just small things like this but the kit is quality.

Oh and use the short cvd for the front upto the slipper it says use long for both front and rear.

Very impressed though so far:thumbsup:

Sounds good, can't wait for mine to arrive! Is it metric or imperial by the way (I assume metric as its EU?), and does it use Allen drivers? I only have metric tools!?

Doomanic
28-02-2008, 11:47 AM
How much was it?

Lee

Yes most of it is metric there is the odd imperial grub screw here and there, mainly diffs though.

The slipper is very nice!!;)

It comes with small metric allen keys but you will need a 0.05" driver ( i think) Its just for the cvd`s and that;)

Surely you can do a europeen Bank transfer with the IBAN / BIC details.
It shouldn't cost you that mutch.

I know It's free in my bank. But then again I'm in "ING / Belgium"

You should check with your bank tho cause last time I sent 135£ to the UK I didn't have to pay any charges at all .

Wraggy is right, this car is bloody expensive for what you get, there is nothing to it:o

When building the car read the instructions 3 times and then if it doesnt make sense go your own way, especially when it comes to shimming the drive train as mine was very tight as per the instructions, but now its fine:D

DaveG28
28-02-2008, 06:01 PM
Any chance you can check the size of that Allen drive?

With shimming, is there a good way of setting this, I've only ever run belt drive before!? Is it similar to setting the pinion/spur gear position?

More Questions sorry:

What size diff balls does it take, and are they standard steel?

If I can get some hardened or carbide ones I'l put them in from the start, I hate doing rebuilds!

Dave

Lee
29-02-2008, 11:16 AM

DaveG28
29-02-2008, 12:49 PM
Hopefully I'll get through it ok, I have built a fair few but I normally do Tamiya who's instructions are very good!!

Hmm, wonder how to measure ball size, I could try and trap one in some calipers but it might ping anywhere!

I've sent money to Germany (from the UK/HSBC bank) for ebay purchases a few times and its cost about £20 each a pop for the basic 5 day transfer. You can pay more to get it there quicker.

Garry, im not sure how many kits the race place are getting, i would imagine it will be some of the initial 30 that were ready. Worth a try though, they are the sex!!

Im actually making up some rear toe in blocks as we speak but i know aero will have some in the coming weeks

Dave, i think the aero uses the same balls as the bj4/s4 so i would imagine they would be the same size, but couldnt be 100% certain, it just looks familiar.;)

Now a question where do i put the PT?

http://www.hobbytec.co.uk/mkportal/modules/gallery/album/a_39.jpg

I thought on the battery straps but the lead may catch on the spur at some point, i also thought about mounting it on velcro on the inside of the shell but im not sure if it sits above the speedo it could cause interference or loose its signal??

Kecky
04-03-2008, 12:46 PM
It's a bit tight for space isn't it :D

Could you not stick it on the battery strap, and hot glue the wire along the inside edge of the chassis, to keep the lead away from the spur gear, or cable tie the wire to the bottom edge of the aluminium spur gear mount;)

And you deffo need to change the white wheels to yellow to set that shell off

bigred5765

stand it in the gap between the Rx and the Ariel mount
double side it to the rx

KevLee
04-03-2008, 01:00 PM
Lee, i have fitted mine infront of the receiver. I just had to take a small amount of the forward corners of the PT to get it in the webbing of the chassis. Not sure what receiver you have in there though, mines the little spektrum one.

Lee
04-03-2008, 01:00 PM
Kecky, No space for the wire to go down the side of the motor and its not long enough to go the other way:confused:

Now a question where do i put the PT?

On the backside of the rear tower works just fine! (vertical) If the wires are too short it's very easy to open it and solder on some longer ones.

Fasten it with double-sided velcro and it's easy to move to another car.

Very nice paintjob! Car looks awesome!!!

Nick Goodall

Yes they have Nick, they are similar to the losi cartridge design.

Kecky
04-03-2008, 01:31 PM
Lee, it's a bit hard to see the motor side of the chassis, bit will the wire fit under the motor between it's curve, and the squared off inside corner of the chassis, or will it run too close the the pinion:confused:

Must admit, i prefer the transponder as far forward as poosible, just incase of a photo finish :woot:

Lee
04-03-2008, 01:44 PM
It would fit in the space left where the motor curves but its the motor mount which sits flush against the side of the chassis that stops me doing it, otherwise it would be ideal

Yes! A bad mofo!
(Mind you, the aero I drove did steer like a mofo - not necessarily bad)

On a totally unrelated car the front camber links seem to be mounted not on the kingpin, but on that other hole in the castor block: http://gallerie.automodelisme.com/displayimage.php?album=137&pos=37 Seems more reasonable, doesn't it?

kit diff balls are carbide, and the size is 3/32. (guess the size makes sense now I remember the diff screws are imperial, so the balls would be too!).

Glad they're carbide, should last longer!

Are you guys happy with the Aero? I heard its balance during long jumps isn't that good. Any other stuff I should know?

Hello,everyone!

It is a contribution from Japan.
I want to buy A-One.
However, I transmitted an email to BK Racing, but there is not an answer. :eh?:
I know that The Raceplace sells it.
However, I want to buy it from them directly because I want to buy various parts and Kit.
Would you do any good advice?

Thank you.

I assume they've been unable to answer, I ordered some parts a couple of weeks ago that haven't been processed yet. I believe they are at the UK national round next weekend though so I imagine they will be able to reply to you sometime before then, so maybe give them one more week?

I know, they didn't answer my mail as well, which was sent 6 weeks ago...

Just so you don't think Aero are ignoring you all, Bob is currently taking exams and has been real busy with these. As they are a small company there will be delay's for this period.

I'm sure they would have posted something on here but after the abuse they took at the beginning they do not use this forum to post.

I'm sure we can all understand exams take precedance over a hobby!

Do you know when they finish (are they about this weekend?), if they get the time might be worth them putting a quick message on their website about delays, to be fair to everyone they wouldn't know that to be the case until now?

No news to all massages.

I even sent postal mail nearly two weeks ago no answer.

I hope nothing wrong ?

I guess the Aero review will never come, too bad...
