Kyosho ZX-R Help

hey all,
recently purchased what i guess would be classed as a job lot of kyosho gear,all lazer based.any whooo.....1 thing led to another took a while for me to get the bits tinternet problems.finally have it all having a rummage threw it all and need some help I.D. ing the two cars.they were both sold as zx-r's but there are slight difference with them so i have a huntch one may be a Mk.2 here goes.also cant tell but im lead to belive that the chassis may be both non origonal.ive made seperate photo buckets of both cars other wise the thread would be pic heavy.

what i have notices is this car has CV's front and rear and the upper wishbone/turbuckle mounts in a slighlty different position to the other one

with this one i have noticed that the front OT-16's are metal,only has front CV's and slightly different shaped turnbuckles

any help as this stage is much appreciated,i will defo need more allong the way

Welcome to the club. On the vintage section there is a lazer thread and would be a better place to ask your questions.

The second car is original and looks like a mk1 but cant confirm as i cant see the slipper clutch. Also i am also unsure on the first as need to see the slipper but would be a good idea to measure the chassis holes specifically from the top deck rear mount to the wishbone block which sits behind the motor as if identical then its a mk1 as well. I designed the carbon fibre L plate brace with the hole in it to look like a mk2 and could be that is whats on your car.

I would take both cars apart and put the best items into one and use the rest as spares. Take your time and rebuild with new screws, and make sure bearings are flushed out with gt85 and not wd40, rebuild the diffs and make it look stunning.

Car 1 MKII chassi probably fibre-lyte, twill weave

Car2 ZX chassi layout probably fiber-lyte chassi.

thanks for the feedback this a great help to me.ive read threw many pages on the zxr thread only started this as it would be pic heavy once i know what cars i have then i will divert my attentions to that thread.
i have uploaded some more pics of both cars including the slipper area,and also ive laid a ruler from "top deck rear mount to the wishbone block which sits behind the motor"in a bid to try and find out which ones i have.from what i see car one comes up at 50MM car to is 55MM.i like the idea of transfer all the good parts on to one car,but if they turn out to be a mk1 and mk2 is there much difference and what would be a better car to drive?

As Isobarik said, Car1 is a ZX-R Mk2 and car2 is a ZX-R Mk1.

Car1 is identified as a Mk2 by the kingpin mounted front upper links, extensions on the rear uprights, longer top deck, shorter one piece motor mount and wraparound gearbox brace. The Mk2 moved the rear top deck support backwards to enable the batteries to move backwards 5mm to improve the balance when jumping. The shock mounts, shocks, chassis, top deck and suspension arm mounts are all upgrade parts.

Car2 is identified as a ZX-R mk1 by the outboard mounted front upper links with the long bent ball joints to clear the uprights and the rear upper links mounted directly on the uprights, shorter top deck, longer two piece motor mount and thinner gearbox brace above motor. The front shock mount, chassis, top deck and suspension arm mounts are all upgrade parts. The rear shock mount is from the ZX-R Mk2. The machined alloy knuckles are another third party upgrade, it should have plastic ones like the other car.

The slipper clutch only identifies them as a ZX-R, both Mk1 and Mk2 use the same slipper. The ZX-RR uses a different slipper clutch, but it also uses different shocks as well so they are obviously both ZX-R.

As Terry said "The machined alloy knuckles are another third party upgrade, it should have plastic ones like the other car" alloy items are stronger so you neednt remove these. I had a set exactly the same as the ones on your car and worked well, so long as the thread is still undamaged.
