I am still testing pistons and oils but a good one is Nick Gurnells tapered pistons on 3 hole all round. 1.5 40w front and 1.7 30w rear.
Car is solid on that.
If you run heavier rather than lighter then run 32.5 rear oil.

Please note I am not convinced yet it's the fastest set up but the car feels real good and jumps exceptionally well on that.

Has it turned up yet? It was sent yesterday by special delivery so it should be there soon if not.

I've been using 1.2mm hole all round, 6 hole rear and 4 front with 35 front and 32.5 rear. and its been feeling really good. As Tony said, we are still learning so things might change. Thats also with the kit rear springs and kyosho orange fronts.

None in mine.
I control the length of the shocks with different balls studs at the end of them.
There are 4.6 - 6mm etc available through Kyosho.
Note the new front tower is higher than the older one and this will change your droop so adjust to suit

It's all a matter of moving forwards with developments and speed and the longer chassis certainly makes the car more stable. The Big Bores are again another plus factor especially over bumpy sections. The WC version has different geometry and again all improvements to make the car faster but without trying too hard on the driving part - LOL
I haven't yet found anything I don't like apart from the slipper on the WC has to bed in and has a fine adjustment.
I am not sure who has the new WC in stock as I know the first batch sold out but maybe Kev at Inside Line Racing or Marc at MK Racing might have one left.
The longer chassis and longer chassis kit will be available any day now too.

You do need to build it with up travel limiters though, otherwise the wishbone will hit the innner camber link mount. I think kit standard is 2mm.

Kev is right - I put rubber 'O' rings on mine - Only on the front though

No limiters INSIDE the shock mate.
Outside on the shaft only fit a spacer or 'O' rings like I have.
You may even have to fit longer ends on the shock shafts to get enough droop.
I assume you have the WC BB tower of course

I've bought some tapered pistons from Nick so will try various and will post what I found.

Two primary options were either kit pistons (5 holes) with maybe 1.4 front and 1.5 rear alternative or the other way around, 3 holes 1.5 front/1.7 rear.
The second option is working for the Durango boys (i don't like too much holes on big bores so far).
Springs Super Hard Orange front and Yellow rear as a start.

At least that's where I'm going !

@stotfold last weekend i had 35wt oil orange SHard 'K' springs and standard pistons on the front and 30wt pink 'Losi' springs and standard pistons rear with the shock mounted in the drilled extra inner hole. I use the losi springs on the rear as they are stiffer than all the kyosho ones. HTHs

I fitted the longer ends - part number LA43 5.8mm Ball End(12pcs)

Still not sure if I have it right at present etc.

I've started with 37.5 standard pistons and 30 drilled 1.4 x 5 hole on the rear. Rear I think is too stiff for me at present. Made some changes this week, but I'm not racing for a few weeks.

Indoors I'm planning on 40w front 30w rear standard pistons front, drilled 1.4 rear.

I have a variety of Nick's pistons to to try:
5 x 1.4
5 x 1.5 - too big IMHO
6 x 1.2
4 x ? - need to check
5 x ? - need to check

For TORCH I think the tapered pistons will work, but just need to find the right balance.

I also have a set of standard bore shocks knocking around, but need to come off the Laser as I didn't like it with them on.

Morning all,

I see there has not been a post in here for a wee while - would anybody like to share their latest RB5 Vega setups please?

I'm off to the F345s in Southport and would really appreciate some guidance - I really haven't had chance for a lot of running with my Vega yet but I am so far impressed - I'm using a small-bore setup posted by Tony Evdoka from a while back now - so either small or big bore setups gratefully received! :D
