robitronics Charger advice settings ?

Hi guys i am wondering if you can possibly help i have just got a robitronics overloader charger and i am stuck as to what the best settings would be for my EP 4600 batterys

if anyone has this charger and could offer some setup advice i would appericate it

This is what Robitronic recommends for EP4200's although I really dislike the temperature values on that recommendation...

I'd do them at 5,5A, cutoff at 5mV and the temp at 50°C because I found that the temperature rises about 5°C after cutoff and unless you're running touring cars you'll be hard pressed to empty the cells anyway...

I use an overloader charger, but that really makes no difference. Charge as per BRCA guidelines and you'll not go far wrong.

Brief summary - Charge at 1C (that 4.6amps for those cells), keeps regularly equalised and if using the temp cutoff keep it nice and low at around 42 deg. Don't forget to store them with some charge (Idon't know if EP's self discharge like IB's but it can't do any harm...)

The advice is good for all chargers and batteries really.

Edit: keep the delta peak nice and low - I have no problems with mine set at the minimum of 3mv per cell

No I don't want to blow myself up.
I just find that it's tough enough as it is to get batts full in time for the heat as we have 1 hour gaps between heats. 5,5A gets my IB's and GP4600 full in about 45-50mins which is cutting it awful close when you've got to marshal and all.

5,5A is basically what everyone over here in Germany is charging their cells at (at least the people I know)

I remember the days of when we used to give cells 9A and they were ready when the shrink wrap started splitting :woot:

I don't understand ..... my charger is set to 4A, never any more, and I can easily get the cells topped up between runs. So long as I arrive at the meeting with at least 2 packs charged it's easy.

Your cells must feel very flat roger if you pre-charge them:(

5.5 amps will do your cells no harm, just keep an eye on them, a cell will go bang at 1C if its reverse charged,:confused:

Its about common sense, i charge around 4.5A but i would charge at 5.5 or 6 if i had to.;)

Just when you equalise before charging make sure all six lights come on and let them all go out, if one or more doesnt come on put a few hundred mah into it to make sure the cell will be at 0.9 before you charge. As long as all cells start off at this you should be ok whatever you charge at:thumbsup::)

Lee .... I have not noticed them feeling flat at all ..... in fact I very, very rarely use anything other than power profile 1 on the LRP / Nosram speedos and am going to change all my motors for the "L" series before the start of the season as I have too much punch all the time!!

Trust me mate they would feel VERY flat in the first heat if I didn't pre-charge as they would be flat ...... my middle name is late, lucky to get to the track in time for the first round ...... LOL

if your going to the wroksop indoor finals be prepared to charge at 1c max or go home, if you get caught your cells will be unplugged and taken to race control as racers found out last sunday!
