Which sc?

ok guys thinking of asking santa to bring me a short course truck probably 2wd, now i already race buggies which is and still will be my prefered race format, i like associated stuff and was considering the sc10 factory team kit but when i checked out the ansmann they are less than half the cost, this will not be the deciding factor though, just wanted to get more experienced opinions really, all models would be considered.

The HPI Blitz (not the ESE - the black RTR chassis is less brittle) is probably the toughest of the 2wd SCTs. I've watched Mole2k try to break his, mostly without success. I'm baffled why they don't have a Waterproof Flux version out yet.

The kit 2wd SCTs (SC10 FT, Kyosho, Blitz ESE less so) all look really expensive to me, when the SC10 4x4, an awesome vehicle, costs barely more, and doesn't need a 550 motor (see below).

The Hong Nor SCRT is very cheap, but the heavy drivetrain needs a hefty 550 motor, not ideal if you want to use your existing electrics. This goes for the Hobao and Losi 4wds too.

The Ansmann Core is the only 'correct' size SCT in their range, all the others are fairly short (270mm wheelbase when most SCTs are 310-335mm).

I think CML have the Venom Gambler in their lineup. Not likely to have good support, though.

You should get an SC10RS, sell the receiver and tx on ebay for whatever you can get for it and you'll have a kick ass sc truck that comes with a gear diff already installed right out of the box to go along with your other car. :thumbsup:

Or you can keep the stock radio equipment if you want. Its your choice. Either way you'll end up with the best sc truck out there IMHO. AE has been doing 2wd race trucks for longer than anyone else in the biz.

I'd pick the one I can get spares for the easiest.
I have an SC10 as I race a B4 and know all the parts plus B4 hop ups fit like bulkheads and top plates etc.
Might be different if I raced a Losi......but I don't.

The X2SC is the correct size as well. Same as the core but comes with alloy shocks bearings and turnbuckles and a clear bodyshell. Think of the CORE as a madrat version.

The SC2 is the one you want to avoid as that is the buggy conversion.

I run a CORE upgraded to X2SC spec and it is as good as any of the other 2wd trucks on the market. Mine is plenty quick enough anyways :thumbsup:

if you're going for 2WD SCT, nothing beats X-Factory's mid motor conversion kit in combination with an AE SC10.

We run a lot of these at my club. The SC10, is popular and fares well. We have a couple of Losi strikes, which don't do too well, the Blitz is probably the most common, and was the choice of our summer champion.

I have just bought the RTR Blitz. Its great as it comes out of the box. The B/L guys smoke me down the straight, but that aside it was competitive, i have left all the stock electronics in it, and may only put a beefier motor in but frankly i am not even going to rush that.

The blitz is cheaper than the SC10 by quite away, and its on 2.4, and as its RTR all you need are 4 handset batteries and your choice of lipo, or nimh pack.
