Tamiya Hornet?

Just a quicky, does anyone know what the standard pinion is for a Hornet, the old original one, and also, does anyone have one?

A quick look at a manual, and I can see it was an 18 tooth pinion with the 540 silver can motor. I believe, the pitch was 0.8 modulus... Many used 32dp as a substitute though.

I remember the pich being 32, but could not remember the tooth, many thanks matey. will put it on my shopping list. need to get the old beast working for some retro action some time.
Oh that silver can 540 is gona be hard to hanle........... hehe....... The bouncy shocks will bring back some interesting memories of yesteryear(well over 2 decades ago)...

I fear that what may have been acceptable and fun back then, just won't tick the boxes for you now.. You might want to run it up and down the street, do a few handbrake turns, wear the spikes off the tyes, then back it in to a kerb to bust the rear axle... Once you're done, and want to disconnect the battery, you'll find the horrible little Tamiya plug melted together...

Sadly this was the conclusion I came to as well, bloody awful bump steer and rear end hopping under power as well. Actually discovered my Wild One was marginally more "fun" and made a reasonable vintage-class racer too.

Ahhhh the memories from 20 yrs ago.....but mine was the grasshopper 2 super g,
But it did the same thing rear axle bouncing all over the place but so much fun...:thumbsup:

Was out with my thundershot yesterday, slow as hell but still fun for my 3 year old to learn the rc ropes with :D
