Hi guys,

I've been racing my TRF502x (first RC car I've ever raced) for a while now, and I've noticed an issue with the small countersunk screws that help secure the front and rear gearboxes to the chassis of the car (I believe they are M3x6mm, if my memory serves me right).
They come loose quickly, and when they do, they strip the threads in the plastic immediately.

Since the gearboxes are made from plastic, ordinary threadlock compund (Loctite 243) won't be of much help. So, has anyone else experienced this problem, and what have you done to overcome it?

I could of course retighten the screws after each battery pack, but I really don't want to do that, as it requires the undertray to be removed, in order to get access to the screws.

Is there some sort of "plastic threadlock" available, that would solve this problem? I really don't want to use ordianry CA glue, as I need to be able to remove the screws at some point, to service or change parts..

Thanks.

Maybe a slightly longer screw would be enough to grab some Fresh thread further up the casing maybe use a little thread lock :)

Failing that its the expensive a parts

I'm gonna change the lower part of the gearbox, so the scres will have new threads to grab on to, but I need to find a "solution", so this doesn't happen again.. What kind of thread lock to use on metal screws in plastic threads?

use slightly longer screws and a dot of super glue, it works for me..

Use new gearboxes and the original 3x10mm screws. They shouldn't come loose.

Never use threadlock on plastic parts. In most cases it rots the plastic and causes it weaken, dissolve, or fracture. There is thread-lock specifically for plastic, but it is not commonly available. CA glue works to lock screws in plastic, but your rip out the threads when you remove the screws. The best thing I have found to lock screws in plastic is ordinary "white" craft glue, though it takes a few days to dry if there is little exposure to air.

Is there no way to add longer screws that, when fully screwed in, come out of the casing on the other side again so you can use a lock nut on it?
