Hello,

yesterday was the first race with my new C4.1. The Car ran very well.
But I had a problem with the car. The lay shaft has a tolerance of 0,2 - 0,3mm if i move the shaft back and forth (i move the Slipper vertically up and down)

So i can adjust the gear tolerance..... Is this ok?

EDIT:
Hi again,

i replaced all lay shaft bearings several times, but i still have the same tolerance. The diff housing from my B4 do not have that tolerance, and i used the same bearings! I think it is because of the ball bearing distance in the diff housing?!

Hi,
I think your issue needs describing to CML directly rather than on here. Sounds like a genuine manufacturing fault and CML are extremely good at helping/advising their customers.

The bearings should be solid, no movement. The only movement in the layshaft should be slight in and out - which the shims are used to minimise as described in the manual, but not eliminate otherwise their is side load on the bearings (not good).

Hi Chris,
thanks for your quick answer. The bearings fits very well in the housing, there is no movement (tested 8 different bearings).

Can you give me the email adress from CML? Perhaps i can send them my Gearbox so they can test it.
