if you are looking for a bright metallic red I would use a candy red backed with silver.

Totally agree, buy some transparent red or some candy and back with silver.

RCS candy red backed with chrome for an annodized effect or silver for a candy effect

Actually I'd go with almost everything everyone has said, however, if you want a bright red you can do various things with candies. Back it with a pearl white for a subtly metallic red or a pearl pink for a more punchy colour.
The Chrome probably looks the absolute coolest though.

On guitars, a metallic candy apple red is often backed by a gold instead of silver for a warmer color.
