Wow!!
No NW National in 2012!!
NW must have the biggest region (12 heats etc) yet no National??
Bit disapointed if im honest... Southport might not be to everyones taste.. its is an excellant track and superbly presented AND is tried and tested and works...
I feel sorry for the Southport lads, as they have such a good team of helpers :)
Looks like people from the North West will be clocking up a fair few miles next year!! :p

When was the last time southport didn't get a national ? Normally go up to watch every year. Suppose it gives other clubs a chance and freshens the calandar up for the regulars.

As the club I'm involved with applied for a National I didn't think it was appropriate I voted at all.

Surprised Southport didnt get a national i thought it was one of the most popular!!!! ive not had chance to do nationals fot a few seasons due to work comitments. Hoping to do them next year shame there's none in the northwest but swings and roundabouts i supose.
When do the list of approved batterys and motors for next season come out? going to have to get some new kit for next season its been that long lol

No pics of track as it will be built the few days before the national, so another one where local knowledge count's for nothing!!

That's correct Nick, well done buddy. Thought it'd been a while since your last Silverstone slagging session!
Anyway Col, back to THIS thread.
I will let people know more details asap as people will obviously have questions. I would like to point out that SRCMCC were selected the same as everyone else. The committee run the club/events for everyone including ourselves to simply enjoy great meetings and our fantastic chosen sport/hobby.
We plan to hold 2 regional meetings and a large weekend event on the track before the National so you can be rest assured any issues will be dealt with by then. If we would have been awarded a FULL National on our old track then that would've been 'unproven' anyway as it needed digging up, drainage put in and re-profiling anyway. SRCMCC is run by experienced racers who certainly don't want a mediocre track to race on. We've also enlisted some of the best racers around to assist on design.

It'll be multi surface

So Englands Premier National Series run in the summer will have carpet (multi surface ;)) round indoors? No offence to Matt and boys as I know they'll put on a great event as normal, but that just seems odd, surely it's got to be outside?

The same multi surface used for the 2 regional meetings and large weekend event?

Who said anything about carpet ????
Kidderminster is multi surface ???
New surface ??? Moon rock
It will be a mixture of Astro, dirt, paving slabs and grass... Oh and it will be under one roof. Also includes 200 seater stand for spectators :D
If you want to know more then enjoy the national or any other events held there...

It's one more than last year ....
Looks like those that relied on home track results will have to step it up again. After all it is a National series.
Not that it bothers me as i live in middle of country so until this year have had to travel good distance to every national, but last year the southeners were moaning about no national blah blah...
At least we are having some change this year...

Just get Bernie Ecclestone to organise it. There must be a Morrisons car park nearby.

So are we saying that as Southport (as i guess this is what it is all about) is the only Northern club that applied they should get one ???
I don't have any issue with Southport and there are two nationals this year that i would gladly replace with Southport, but they are what they are. If you don't want to do them don't, as was said on the other thread if you think the voting system needs improving put down ideas...
Tip - Racers can't make the decision solely, and being the only club in your area doens't give you right to a national.
Yep, but that was one of two nationals, not one of one.

18-12-2011, 11:28 PM
No secret, but you always seem to know more than anyone else! Perhaps you can tell us, if not then wait like everyone else.. If i say only 10 caravans it's not fair on those that don't come on here and don't have a chance to book.
col300
18-12-2011, 11:37 PM

They should be spread fairly throughout the country. If you take in to account numbers of racers then its a definite yes.
Smartalec
18-12-2011, 11:37 PM
It was a simple question, do i need to spell it out more clearly? I never asked about caravans, I asked what the pitting and camping situation was? I can't see why you feel the need to keep that a secret. But it's not a problem, I can wait :lol::lol:

Don't you want to ask another pointless question like if there will be marshall point's ???
Just asking as i have never been to a national yet without pitting etc available...
Alec, all clubs have a criteria to work to. Im sure silverstone will have everything under control and there wont be anything you need to know before anyone else on here!!
Clubs work very hard for a national, just give em some respect!

Anyone whinging about the traveling should be thankful, in my new home country there is only one national.....and I think it's further for me to travel to it than the UK ones probably!! (Boston to SoCal!)
Gutted I'm not around to race them this year...there's too many good tracks because they all look good to me but then there's no Southport or Tally...better than not enough good tracks though!!
Oh, and for what it's worth (not much as I'm not there!), I'm all in favour of at least a round being indoors, that's at least one not rain affected!!
James
19-12-2011, 09:50 AM
The Silverstone round is indoors then, just an observation and I'm guessing its probably down to venue availability but i bet 5 bags of potatoes that august 4th/5th is the hottest and sunniest weekends of the year :woot: it's a shame one of the outdoor meetings couldn't be on this weekend as it's the height of summer

Im going to try and enter a few of the Nationals for the first time, is it a first come first serve to get an entry?? or does it depend on your F status??
What im try to say is shall I fill out the entry form now??

I think the hottest weekends of this year were around the april bank holidays so planning on August being hot isn't always going to be correct as not even the professional weather folk know what's going on half the time! :D
And as for our 'summer', i must have missed that 'one day' this year!

The two hottest weekends were in June and end of July in 2011, but April did have a very good weekend didn't it!
I was just basing it on the 98 year average from the Met Office showing that week most often contains the hottest day of the year. The oOple race is just a week before so at least the odds will be in our favour if not the gods!
