Sealing a brushless motor

Do you mean to stop water getting in? If so i think the best way is to use blue tac round the sensor wire and round the top of the can.

Id prefere a more internal solution to keep it looking nice. When you say the top do you mean around where the top cap sits?

i take it theres a problem with water and brushless then? i know you can run brushed underwater.

just the sensor wire port and wire tabs need covering on them and the same with the speed controllers, not really much of a problem to pretty much waterproof them for the wet,

Ive been told by an experienced racer that it's the front you need to waterproof, not so much the back.

So what do i do with my orion motor thats full of holes :confused: oh bugger.....

Depends on the car where the electrics are located as they are what need protecting not the internals of the car, I havn't had much expierience outdoors in the wet with offroad but i've drowed my saloon car which is much more open to water than offroad cars and all i did was put the reciever in a baloon and put abit of bluetack on the speedo set up buttons and wire tabs and had no problems at all and the car had water all over the insides,

For the one time I did run offroad outdoors in the wet I put duck tape over the area where the chassis and shell touch to stop water getting in the gaps and put abit around the front end and also used abit of cotton inside the front end and used abit of bluetack on the reciever, speedo and motor

I would of thought that area where the motor is on most cars doesn't really need concern for the front of the motor as it's usually protected enough

Well thats where the water gets in on them and they go wrong, so it's pretty essential in a 2wd ;)

I personally haven't had any issues. I temporarily add blue tac around the sensor wire output and nothing else. More permanently though silicon around the sensor wire. I struggle to see how water could get in else where.

I should also point out that one of the subtle benefits of the X6 in 2wd is that everytthing is inside a very well sealed shell so when it rains I do zero waterproofing :D

Yeah they get well mucky in a b4. Could also make a lexan guard to stop muck getting to the front?

I used to not like the looks of the X6 but once i got one and had it for a few weeks I really got to like its looks.

The Orion/Peak motors are fine as the fan disipated 99% of the moisture, as long as you dont leave it sat in a puddle of water, they will run fine in the wet.
