Mad Rat Brushless Eating Driveshaft diff screws

Well I am kind of new and have had to replace this 3 times in 2 months... am doing something wrong?

I am using the old TA trick of tight as you can (with reason) and then 3/4 turn back.

It just seems to eat the screws like sweeties..

Am I the only person with this issue or are there more out there.

Eating screws or the thrust bearings ?? I am not personally convinced on the 'tight as you can then back off approach' personally.

Thrust bearings are quite fragile but the screws and nuts seem fairly decent from my experience

Its deffo the screw that goes through the driveshaft/diff.

It snaps at the head of the screw.

What can be the cause of this and what advice do you give on replacing it... I have to replace number 4 now and dont want to mess it up again.

Sounds like you are tightening it to much to be honest, you may well have damaged the balls or the diff plates
I would get some new ceramic balls & some new plates then do this
Assemble diff but do not do the screw up tight, put a screw driver through both outdrives & hold them so they cant rotate, then see if the centre gear will turn by hand, if it does it is too loose, so tighten the screw a quarter turn, then try the centre gear again, if still turning by hand then tighten another quarter turn, check again & again & again until you cant turn the gear by hand, once you can't turn the gear it should be set for it's first run, remember the diff will probably need re tightening once it's done a few laps
Make sure you use plenty of black grease on the thrust balls when putting it together

I replaced the diff screw with a stainless steel cap head screw. Maybe consider doing that yourself as well as checking it has been assembled correctly.
