I was talking to a guy at a modelshop on Saturday about getting some more Vtec 24's and according to him the company who makes them has run out of the compound and can't get anny more due to a shortage. He said that Sorrex have enough rubber to continue making tyres for a good while so thats what was going to replace them as a control tyre.

He also said that the shortage of rubber will be pushing up the price of full size car tyres alot in the next few years.

I Can't be sure of any of this and I'm taking it lightly but I just wondered if anyone had heard anything along the same lines.

From my understanding, there is some kind of truth in some of this. There is this "magic ingredient" that most of the tyre manufactures have run out of - but Sorex have 2-3 years supply of it left.

However, there is an alternative, but the tyres do end up slightly different, so not sure what tyres will continue to be available and what won't. Depending on who used what in their mix.

Legend has it that Take off has same problems, and it was said that they were getting out, but seems some have become available again, so not sure what is happening with them.
