Hi, I raced touring cars last year using 5300 7.4v HPI Plazma lipo batterys. about 4 months ago i stoped racing over winter so storage charged the batterys and now i am thinking about re charging them and going back to racing.

What i want to ask is what precautions do you have to take if any to re charge the batterys after they have been stored for 4 ish months ?

also what sort of stuff do you check on car after a while of not using it ? bearings, full clean, diff check ? it was rebuilt about 5 months ago.

Thanks for any help in advance

I am pretty sure just charging them on a slightly lower voltage will be fine. they may need a few cycles/runs to get back up to their normal capacity and punch if they have been stored for a while.

As for the car, it should be fine if its been left in a non-damp environment. if it has got wet/damp then it would be worth checking the bearings etc and replace or grease them if needed. The diff should be fine too. you will notice if anything is badly wrong with it when you first drive it.

Hope this helps

as mark says just balance charge them. i sometimes have to use a seperate single cell charger on some of my packs after storage to equal things out as they can go quite out of balance when left for some time, mind you some of mine are four years old now and still going strong
