That's crazy fast, i like the way the old boys are making out they are actually following their cars round the track :woot:

got to say that just doesn't appeal at all. the cars are so stupidly fast that you wouldn#t be able to control them at all. it's just pull the trigger and pray yours stays on the track longest!

That's an AMF King track, 155ft lap length that they cover in about two seconds. They're 24th scale unlimited slot cars, motors do about 120,000 rpm. Whe I raced on a King in the late 1960s we had Johnson 16D motors and took about six seconds to do a lap!
It's a skillful as RC cars, and if you tried it you'd not stay on the track for long! Watch some YouTube videos of 12th scale finals and you'd say the same thing. Modified 12th cars look crazy fast on video, and just as hard to control!
Nice spot, Nick. Thank you for bringing back some great memories of my slot racing days a long time ago! :)

I have to say it's now no way near easy, I have raced and one of our kids now race slot cars at some local clubs, there is a dark art of setting them up,getting the weight right etc,and they are far from easy to drive now days, but as far as I know most racing in the uk has ruled cars like those in the clip out as they were destroying the sport, now no magnets, motor limits and no tyre addatives other than oil, it's a good hobby, but at least it gives us sad RC car bastards the chance to point at another group of people and go...sad gits:lol:.

I looked into it about 12 years ago before I was went to Touring Cars. They do actually control them, squeezing and releasing the trigger, I couldn't keep up they were so fast, not as fast as that video but insanely quick. Not only that there is nothing to them and they were quoting prices at me of £120 for a chassis and £80 upwards for the controller. I thought it would be considerably cheaper but it wasn't so I didn't bother.

Hardest bit for me is how the marshalls know which lane to put the cars back in??
Also, imagine if in like R/C sometimes the marshall doesn't spot it straight away you could be 5 laps down in no time :D

You lot should try the scalextric digital (other brands are available) needs far less space than RC, and is also very much beer and curry compatible. Includes, lane changing, overtaking, fuel strategies, tyre wear, drive thro penalties and so on.
Great way to spend a damp saturday evening.
That stuff up at the top ^^^ is just mental.

I have tried that and i stayed on the track but it was not the fastest of cars that i tried but i noticed one wierd thing i have to use my right hand but when i race rc cars i use my left hand to pull the trigger .
