I have used the tekin t8 2050 motor. A mate has used the 2650 tekin whilst another mate has the castle 2650 (shaft was too long so he had to chop some off!)
Best value batteries are the turnigy nanotech hardcase from hobbyking. They are great and perform better than my pricey smc packs. Also a 6600 2s pack will only set u back about £35.

The serpent needs to use the standard length buggy motors like the Tekin 4030 71 mm long 1900kv motor, truggy motors are longer at approx 78mm and will not fit.

The most popular choice seems to be the Tekin 1900kv, I also use this and it has more than enough power.

The Serpent also needs to use the normal 2S stick type Lipo's commonly used in 1/10th, so are easy to get with plenty of choices. You also should really use hard case cells and not the easily damaged soft ones.

I use Intellect cells, which I brought from Demon Power Products at £60 each. You can get cheaper and lot more expensive, at the end of the day you pay your money and make your choice. From what I have heard Gens Ace from Giant Cod are also good, I would tend to stick to UK companies for peace of mind although some people do import stuff without problems.

More like an 1/10.... the way it should be...

Tekins Buggy 2050 and IP 5800/60C hardcase. But if ur not going to race theres absolutely no problems using soft case batterys as the original battery holder in this car is bullet proof.
