Hiya, I am in the process of putting together my c4.1 kit. My b4.1 diff doesn't fit, the instructions show a sc10 ball diff. Should the kit contain this or is it something else I gotta buy!

Cheers

The kit was designed for the B4.1

So you will need a B4.1 diff out drives and bearings, which are metric.

These are not included in the kit.

sounds like you have an imperial set of outdrives on your b4 diff ... the newer metric outdrives have a dimple as such on them as well as the driveshaft slots... hope that makes sence.....

Have you got the gear diff in your B4.1?
If so then it won't fit straight in as it's been designed around the B4.1 ball diff that comes in the FT version.

Thought the B4.1 and SC10 ball diff were the same both with the metric bearings and outdrives..........

I thought both were too

For those that haven't seen it in the other threads...

The B4 diff uses imperial bearings and these would need to be changed (along with the outdrives) to be used in a C4.1

The B4.1 and the SC10 use metric.
For the C4.1, you have to use the ball diff - so if you have a Factory Team B4.1 or Factory Team SC10 that is fine - as that's what they come with.

But if you have an RTR B4.1 or RTR SC10 that has the geared diff (big white casing) then it will need to be changed for the ball diff.

Thanks for the reponses. Yet another part I will have to buy then. I feel a peeved that CML don't inform people that the C4.1 kit is only compatable with the Factory Team B4.1 not the RTR or the Ball Diff should be included in the box!

I'd already purchased a gear diff in preparation for a Centro when I found out - it was the final straw for me, and got a nice clean X6 instead (the gear diff is still in my pit box until I think of a use for it!)

I believe some folks have successfully dremelled out their gearbox to make it fit - I wasn't willing to take the risk with the gearbox parts costing £40....!

I modified my gearbox to use the Gear diff no problems. :)

You just have to take your time and get it right.

Took about 1 hour in total. Now i have the choice of using both.

I feel that they should machine the casing to accept the gear diff as standard. Would not cost any more but would appeal to more people and reduce the cost of the conversion for people that have the RTR car as a donor car.
