We are racin this sunday, we r on the dirt this week, but as always weather permitting.
Would not mind grass as I enjoyed the new layout (thank u jcb n dave) still needs a few little tweaks, rumble strip on corners ( idea- broom handles hammered deep into grass and pinned at ends. About 6 in a fan shape, on a corner). And bring a broomhandle day is born..
:o

I'll be there, thought one of these might be handy:

I should be there. My car is all pretty and new looking again, even has some new bling :D

I shall reserve the right to not be there at the last min though :) the next couple of weekend might be a bit hectic for me.

They tried something similar at a national a few years back and ended up taking them out after the first round of practice as it was too random with them lifting up and people getting stuck in the pins. Not saying it wouldn't work at NBC, but I think with the ground being sandy it would lead to the track cutting up a lot in that area too.

I won't be at this one, but will be there at the end of the month :)

Hmm well there is another way of making a rumble strip:thumbsup:

Now I think we may need a plan B this weekend, the trmp is not getting high enough and I suspect both tracks will be snow bound still, have to wait and see.

So plan B, better see if kellers is still going indoors on sunday night?

Would this mean i'd want to be gluing up the yellow mini pins i bought by mistake

(& on the front too ?)

How about we clear the snow n race on d FROZEN dirt... or ROLLER the snow and ICE RACE...
yes to mini pins 4 kellers, you can use normal spikes, but pins are better.

Pins are the way to go indoors on the rear. As for the fronts it's down to personal choice between pins or stagger ribs depending on how much steering you want. I'd glue up pins and cut the outer spikes off first, but that's just me.

Thanks Jon, so mini pin yellows for the rear & "slim" (ie, 2wd) mini pin yellows on the front :)

I just know that if i get some ready that'll be sure to melt the snow, dry the track & not end up using them, lol.

Thats it, I think I ended up cutting two rows off the inside and outside of the fronts and 1 off the outside of the rears last time I raced at kellers.

I'd be tempted to mount them on rims, but not glue them up. At least that way you can take them off, but will only take a minute to glue once you know where your racing. It's worth noting that your not allowed to glue them in the hall at kellers!

ok, I have been and had a look at the on the way home tonight, there is about one to two inches of snow still on it:bored:.now if we get a thaw the track drains well, it will still be usable. But I very mutch doubt we will get high enough temps in nthe next 2 days.

So before I try to contact kellers to see if they are racing & if we could go and play I need to know who could come, we need about 4 or five minimum to make a heat. kellers runs on sunday night at trouse think they finish about 10ish.

So who could come??????????????????????

As it stands atm I wont be making the trip... It's a blizzard here in Littleport and it's set to continue tomorrow and possible to the weekend so I don't think I'll be making the trip in these conditions.

I'm not even sure I'll make it to work tomorrow :)

Sorry chaps.

I'll definately go, shame it snowed at all as generally it's otherwise been very 'freeze dried' weather, lol.

Jon, thanks for tyre info, for some reason i have a pair of new 4wd minipin yellows, do you think i could remove enough rows of pins to make them work, lol ? If not i'll have to settle with stagger ribs if i can't get to a shop soon.

racingdwarf

don't panic dan. the stagger ribs will be fine if you are using the mid car,and the 4wd fronts will be wayyyy to much unless you are using the mad rat then you may get away with them

Dandare

I'd have both cars with me, i guess the mid would be better on the wood (is it wood, lol?)

Dufty07

staggers are what i would use

No mate, It's a sort of indoor astro/carpet type surface, sports hall that is mostly used for indoor football, so as dufty, I would also use stagger ribs on a mid car.

I should know that, i've been in there watching with Shaun (a mate, who knows a few guys there as he used to run TC's years ago).
I won't rush out to buy front minipins then, i'll just make sure i have the rears ready to use.

Just spoke to Shaun (who now has his RTR brushless Monkey), he says he'd come, & another mate (Steve who, also thanks to me, lol, has a RTR Mad Rat) may possible come too :D

Hey Dave,
You'd better get up Kellers and learn that car damn quick lol, i just seen the heat listings for Maritime, with that talent you'll be lucky to make the 'E' final i reckon. If you want my base set-up that you know you like just ring me and i'll talk you through it.

When will we know what the plan is for 2moro ?

See what you mean regarding the crazy pace of the forum, no replies Yet

I thought maybe we could get over to our track really early (8am should do it), & sweep/shovel/kango the icy snow off the dirt track, it'll be fine, then afterwards head over to Trouse & run 'em indoors too

Good idea ?

On a far more serious note, my plan is to pop along to Trouse for between 4:30-5pm, should have 1 or 2 other chaps with me too (hopefully). Hope to see a few of you there !

yay Ice race, I have done it once, was great fun....It was so long ago that my wepon of choice for the day was a rough rider:woot:.

on another note, after two days, there has been contact! from someone from kellers club who thinks it should be fine for us to race.

Well i'm certainly not doing a 'Kaylon' stylee report on this evenings racing but i did enjoy our Away Game at Trouse. Usual suspects dominating (you know who you are, damn you, lol). Nice to try the hand at a high(ish) grip track.

Really appreciate the help you chaps gave to Shaun following his series of unfortunate events ! I think it went something like:

Dave, for correcting his so called RTR motor wiring.
Me, for pointing out his ESC lipo cut didn't like NiMh's !
Simon, Carl & Dave for supplying & soldering new 4mm Bullet connectors.
Me, for lending my lipos,
Himself, for fixing a steering steering 'failure'
Rob, for unlawfully thieving my Rats turnbuckle for him, lol.
Err, me, for lending him tyres & rear shocks & donating a wing.
Me (again), for kindly destroying his esc capacitor whilst setting up his slipper (oops).
Well, you get the idea with that... :D

Spoke to him after, thinks he'll give the off-roading a go, so at least haven't managed to put him off yet :D

Even the results are up: http://thecarclub.zxq.net/mtg244/finals.htm

Roll on Stotfold next sunday

nice one dan, I hope shaun was not put off last night, It's a hard place for a 1st run with a buggy soooo mutch grip, pushed for time and THE WALL:woot:. But for a 1st night I think he did ok,finished a couple of races, make sure you drag him down on our next sunday as we will have more time to get things on his car as they should be.

Think we all had a good ish night, results are on a link on dans post:thumbsup:.

Bit bloody dark in the pits tho, touring car drivers must work by touch:lol:.
