10 degree and 12 degree caster blocks

Hi all,

i was wondering what´s the difference is between the 12 and 10 degress caster blocks? Can it be with the 12 degree you get more steering, is this right? I´m talking about this http://www.modellbau-seidel.de/index.php?firma=Tamiya&best=54063&name=Caster-Block-ALU-R-L-12-Grad-TRF501X

Also do the original plastic ones have 10 degree?

Yeah, the plastic ones are 10 degrees. The angle change from 10 to 12 is so small only the most consistent drivers will notice. I used the alu 12 degree ones until I found that the hole for the kingpin screw oval'led from wear and led to a fair amount of slop. Since then I've stuck with the plastic ones. I'd recommend them on low grip surfaces for a little more entry steering, but on carpet I prefer the plastic ones as I have plenty of steering from the tires anyway.

Yes std plastic are 10 degree but its not as simple as you describe. From Elvos guide ........


More More caster aids stability, and handling in bumpy sections.


Less Less caster increases steering drastically.
Steering feels much more direct, the car turns tighter and faster.

Im running the 10 degree indoors on low grip and use the 12 degree blocks outdoors on astro. Jan is right though, im hard pressed to notice any difference. I think its a matter of a small tweak here and a small tweak there all added together makes the difference, not small individual changes. Thats my personal opinion though !
