Tamiya fans have been awaiting the new 'DB02' chassis release eagerly and Kentech has a build of the new off road chassis underway on his blog - http://kentech.blogs.se/
The Leonis as it's called won't be out in Japan until the 17th apparently but Tamiya specialists 'Racing Factory' in Finland have the buggy already.
Motor mount is cool, you can leave the screws on the motor and take the motor out!

Probably because I'm either tired or stupid, I can't understand how that centre geared diff works without the spur being inline. surely the 2 prop shafts will spin in different directions???
simply cannot get my head round it at all lol

Steering rack is at an angle like the 501 and 511 nice.
Any ideas of a uk price anyone?

It is not a centre diff, the shafts spin in the same direction. All of the gears do not mesh together.

Bloody hell:eh?:, hardly keeping in with the Db01 ethos of cheaper than it's "racing" brother is it. Glad I bought my Durango now than waited a year for this.

The shafts will spin in opposite directions yes, but instead of having the diff crown wheels on opposite sides of the chassis to each other, they will be the same side as each other. You see if you swap a diff around on it's input pinion it goes backwards , or in this case forwards
Yes all those gears are meshed to each other!

If all gears are in mesh then that drawing is wrong, if the the drive bevel gear next to the spur gear is rotating forwards as indicated the front bevel gear will rotate in the opposite direction.
But it looks like the gears are not all in mesh. It appears tha the left drive bevel gear is meshed to the rear driveshaft bevel gear and the right gear is only meshed with the front driveshaft bevel gear. If this is how the centre gearbox is then the drawing is correct.
A strange solution indeed, I can't see the benefit of not meshing all four bevel gears but can see higher radial loads on the bearings.
With the motor hanging out to the side I presume that the left/right balance of the car could be affected?
But I suppose in the end it's hard to really know when only looking at photos. Would be interesting to see one in the flesh, and it would also be interesting to see reviews of how the car handles, if it works could this be a taste of things to come from TRF?

Thanks Rebel, I do see now lol :) people now saying though that not all the gears are in mesh with each other

I see exactly how it works now! shafts spin the same way, only 2 crown wheels meshing with each other on opposite sides

Here´another pic to show that the main shafts are slightly offset.

It was pretty obvious that if all 4 gears were meshed then it wasn't going anywhere  Other than into a big pile of striped teeth

Wrong mate
If the spur turned it's bevel gear independently and the othergear on the same plain was free to rotate
And they were all meshed
Then the bevel driven by the spur would turn each prop bevel in different directions and would have the load halfd buy the other opposite freely rotating bevel idler... Easy... Could have worked in this way!
