As Bathy put a pic up of his rather nice Mk1 Golf i thought i'd see who else has been into cars here and owned anything silly / fun or just different??

I had a bit of a mad phase of modifying and doing all sorts of silly things so i thought i'd stick up some pics:

Clio 16v

http://www.anything-cars.com/images/uploads/CLIOPIC3.jpg

Renault 5 Turbo (210Bhp) - This thing was a rocket when we weren't rebuilding it....

http://www.anything-cars.com/images/uploads/mycar2.jpg

I always liked the Dimma Clio's and someone offered to swap one with my Renault 5 so i took it.

http://www.anything-cars.com/images/uploads/Frontright.jpg

Then i went crazy at 20 with a Standard Black Pulsar GTI-R and spent a small fortune on the Engine, Brakes, interior, bodywork, wheels etc etc.

http://www.anything-cars.com/images/uploads/PulsarFrontLOWLeft.jpg

Next up were these two:

BMW E36 M3 Evo
http://www.anything-cars.com/images/uploads/IMAG0051.JPG

Mitsi Lancer Evo VI
http://www.anything-cars.com/images/uploads/DSCF0189.JPG

Then i had to get boring and sensible so had a VR6 Golf followed by the Golf i have now!

You mean if you're lucky enough to feel the pain.....

I honestly don't think i'd go for another one now, i think the M3 was a far nicer everyday car - I couldn't physically just plod about in the Evo as it cost the same in fuel no matter what so it made me want to go fast everywhere! Just the pure acceleration was awesome, and roundabouts always bought a smile to my face haha! The M3 took far more concentration to drive fast but felt better at the higher speeds as it just kept pulling like a train! I'd love an E46 M3 another day, they just sound so hard lol

http://www.oople.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gifI realise it's probably down a little on power to the Aprilia but be careful driving enthusiasticly (can't say race, it's against the law on a public road!) Subaru's & Evo's, I tried it with my Suzuki SV1000S on a B road and try as I might I couldn't shake an Impreza off my tail.
I don't know which version of the Turbo it was (54 plated) and although I'd pull away from it on the straight sections they carry so much more corner speed. Now it may just be that I ride like a girl but speeds varied between 60 & 120 mph so we weren't exactly hanging around.:D

Ah, Colin Brennans old 100quid Rover 418Tdi had comedy low speed oversteer. We were lost in France, taking our time to read road signs and suddenly driving completely sideways at a silly low speed.

It was ace!

http://www.oople.com/forums/images/icons/icon7.gifI never had a problem mechanically with my RG, platinum plugs and Silkolene synthetic oil never missed a beat even in rush hour traffic. Petrol was a different matter though, sub 20mpg was nothing unusual but worth every penny!:D

20mpg and synthetic oil makes it pretty expensive to run!!!!

Then wait until your gearbox decides to exit through your crankcases and deposits bits of gears throughout the rest of your engine.:o thousands of pounds to repair nowadays.

It will happen one day if you use the bike whether you have the upgraded gearbox or not.

That said, best bike I have ever ridden to put a smile on your face when you hit the powerband.

:cry:I nearly cried the first day I got it, one of the genuine Pepsi bikes delivered to my driveway by the dealer and within an hour I managed to catch the handlebars pulling it forward and you've guessed it. Sidestand popped up and over she went, delaer couldn't believe it when I phoned up and ordered a new left centre panel and belly pan.

I have to agree with your last sentence, hue grin factor that you never got bored of. Fortunately never had a problem with the gearbox, must have been lucky.:D
