Battery sleighs

my sons uses the plastic kit one from mardave he has broke 1 last week, my friend of mine as saying he uses a plastic sleigh type battery holder , BUT the person selling these does not make them any more, I was think about getting a few made from alley that you bolt down to your chassic with 4 small bolts, would anybody else be intrested in these lipo holders if i can get them made of a mate of mines dad..I would have thought the more I/we bought the price would come down, only thing you would need would be the velcro strap....just a thought, if not I am still getting 2 made for our daves..

I make something like you are describing. Quite a few people are running these on the Mardave. Designed specifically to fit Loong-Max Tipple 2300 2s LiPos. This battery costs £11 from Giant Cod.

The only thing I would say is that perhaps it would be better to use a non conductive material, if people use these with 4 cells there is a chance that something will short out. I think that is why nylon was used.

This is only designed for one battery type. 4 cells would not fit.

just a quick point the sleighs i was planning to get made where for lipos only FOR now, as the lipos might seam the way to go and I run lipos, if they are going to work out i am sure i could get them made in some type of soild plastic as I am in the trade and no loads of people....more info will come as and when:thumbsup:

Can you make it using the 3 holes already in the chassis, I hate drilling more, I can never get them straight!!

My advice here would be to use only 2 of the available 3 holes. My battery trays do this, and the reason is twofold:

1. The positional accuracy of the 3 holes in some Mardave chassis' is poor. I've seen well over 1mm difference chassis to chassis. If you make your trays to fit 3 holes and the tray is rigid, like my alloy one, you'll either have to drill out the holes or the chassis will bend and the handling will be totally screwed.

2. Using 2 holes only means the tray can be bolted down in the forward or aft positions which allows you to tune the front/rear weight bias of the car. A lot depends on what ESC, servo and radio gear you run and this is a very useful option to have.
