Hello there,

I got Kyosho ZX-5 SP kit recently and now it`s almost complete. This is my first r/c buggy and overall I`m very pleased with the quality of kit and how easy it was to build it.

I`m planning to participate in local racing events and to be prepared I need a lot of spare parts ;) The problem is that local Kyosho dealer don`t have SP spare parts yet in stock and actually I`m not sure it will happen in near future. In the same time, we have abundance of spare parts for “old” ZX-5 model.

So the question is which parts are unique for ZX-5 SP (with part codes if possible) I should order now in Internet shops and which one are remained the same with ZX-5. I know about new shocks, body and wing, but the rest is still unclear for me.

I`m relatively new to the hobby, so please don`t blame me for possibly obvious question.

SP has new front end.... new wheels, wishbones, hubs and steering arms. Rear wishbone and hubs are also updated - these are the parts you will need.

Also new is the shock bodies, motor mount and drive shafts but you shouldn't need these as spares.

My recommended list of SP specific parts....

LA252 - Rear hub type C
LA254 - Knuckle & Hub Carrier set (7 & 10 deg inc)
LA255 - Suspension arm set
W5201W - Front Wheel (pr)

The rest of the bits you need (bulkhead sets and shock towers) are original zx5 bits.

That just about covers it.

If you have the following parts you'll cover all eventuallities

LA209 .... bulkhead set
LA210 .... bulkhead set
LA216 .... front shock tower
LA217 .... rear shock tower
LA256 .... king pin set (just in case you loose one of the little bushes)

That said the car is very strong now so shouldn't need many sapres!

Most people also upgrade the main diff balls to either carbide or ceramic, the trust balls are fine so no need to change them.

Thank you so much guys for quick and detailed answers! It`ll helps a lot!

Looks like SP parts are not freely available even in internet shops. I checked amainhobbies and speedtechrc and they don`t have all needed parts in stock atm.

Buggy is ready... can`t wait to try it on new track!
