Im currently running a TRF511 but am considering an change to a 502.
After a few questions answering if posible :-
What spares are cross compatible ?
Will my 511 Shell / undertray fit to the 502 ?
How much does the shaft 502 drive like the B44 in comparison to the Belt 511 ?

Coincidently, I've had the same feeling aswell for some time and managed to get hold of an entire 502 center section for virtually no money and tried it out 2 days ago after I had it finished up with parts from my 511.
I must admit the car drives wonderfully and the maintenance free-ness of the shaft drive has won me over already. The car is fitted with the JT Models steering bridge.
The body will fit with perhaps slight adjustments to the front to clear the top gearbox mount, but its only a few mm of cutting work.
I ended up buying a new undertray for custom fitting (I mount it on top, not below the chassisplate) as the 511 I had cut out didnt fit. This only applies if you use the on-top-of-chassis-plate option.

ive ran both cars both very good the 502 is sharper more responsive than the 511, the 511 is stronger and doesn't need any mods for example steering bridge camber links etc

Having driven both cars back to back outdoor at rhr I found the 502 to have alot more drive and seemed so much faster. However the 511 is sooooo much more forgiving and was actually faster over the 5 mins.
511 all the way...!
