Bit of a track update, we rolled it last week so it's nice and smooth, the corner jump is gone, we have planned for a wheelchair friendly rosturum which will be about 1 metre high infront of the container to still give good vision, as far as camping I will ask the land owner but can't promise anything, get yourself booked in or your excuses ready

Also what local in terms of food supplies...remember I travel with H and he needs constant charging and balancing- kind of like a big squishy lipo really

Dyna

You dont need pics Chris, just cast your mind back 15+ years.... when men were men, women were women and all decent off road tracks were grass

Long straight, nice infields, not too many man made obstacles, high rostrum, good views, excellent track. Thats all you need to know. In fact, it will be right up your street i reckon, your used to grass tracks.

Layout is quite a bit different to last time, we pulled the corner jump out as we didn't think people liked it and we aim to use the boards from it to make some more jumps, weather looks good all week so should be nice and dry

Ian can I just ask that once u have finished building the track and lower rostrum could u get a camping chair sit down on the lower rostrum nd see if there are any blind spots,i understand there will always b blind spots but the more u fix the easier and less of a disavantage the guys who will be using tha rostrum will b under, obvious things are jumps aimed at the rostrum (there just a case of moving bk nd forth till u find the right spot)nd the other thing is were u put the marshalls.

Soz to be a pain mate its just tha was sum of the probs we found with sum of the tracks we went to through the indoor series.also could u put abit of lexan as a roof for us coz I no there will b more than a few ppl having the urge to drip a luggie on us from the higher rostrum lol.

Nut the track looks fun really looking forward to going now.

N e body no if chris steed hasbooked in,i hope he has.otherwise ill have no one looking over my shoulder telling me my lipos are not all the way in the lipo bag lol I MISS U CHRIS lol

Ian F
27-03-2012, 06:34 AM
Already way ahead or you Jay (apart from the roof lol), when I laid the track I made sure the all the twisty bits are in the centre and the the two furthest points are equally distant from the rostrum, my 6 year old drove the track yesterday from the lower rostrum and had no trouble seeing the track, all blind spots will be considered as I myself hate it when can't see a corner because a Marshall is in the way

chris-on-wheels
27-03-2012, 10:22 AM
I am very tempted now as to the positive notes on the lower rostrum. Just one little question will there enough room for two wheelchairs on the there at the same time? As I would probably run 2wd

Ian F
27-03-2012, 10:58 AM
I was only making it big enough for as requested by H but I can make it for two no problem

jaysllim
27-03-2012, 11:17 AM
Go on ian make it big enough for 2 plz y dad said only one I dnt no coz I swear I said to him tha chris might do 2wd outdoors,

Got a favour to ask - anyone got a spare PT or two ?? Mine has frayed wires coming from the case - i can fix it, but whilst its still working partially, ive sent it off to MRT for a couple of their clones. Which means im PT-less for a couple of weeks.

Balders & Andy have offered to lend me theirs for Sunday, but i cant get up to Caldicot this friday and they are not doing Saundersfoot...

Can anyone pick one up from Caldicot friday off them or lend me a PT, or preferably two if poss as im doing 2 classes ?

ta,

Matt

Or do you mean power supply to charge??

I'm sure Ian will be along soon with the answer :)

Ian F

I could put a sarcastic answer but won't lol, its a 1/10 electric round and you have to supply your own power

Pappisavage
29-03-2012, 09:55 AM
I could put a sarcastic answer but won't lol, its a 1/10 electric round and you have to supply your own power

It was the power supply I was questioning and as I have never been there before and I might not have a car for part of day it seemed a reasonable question. I now know I have to go out shopping for batteries etc ready for Sun Thanks

Ian F
29-03-2012, 10:31 AM
I don't think there's any outdoor meeting that have 240v supply unless you pit inside, best thing to do is buy a good leisure battery it will prove invaluable for outdoor racing, nothing worst that pushing a car because the battery has been flattened

Dyna
29-03-2012, 11:24 AM
Whoops sorry for my reply, i wasnt taking the p*ss, i thought that you thought nitros were running and were asking if electrics were running too....

Yup as Ian says, very rare to find an outdoor track with 240 volt. Best bet is a good battery or genny.

However i took a diferent route.... as i rebuild & run old cars ( real ones ) i have lots of old car batteries ... i need a good battery charger so i brought this last year -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/RING-RSC8-Smart-Charger-Amp/dp/B000VZ8R9K/ref=sr_1_14?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1333019275&sr=1-14

I tested it on a 10+ year old Mk3 XR3i battery i had in the garage that was dead as a doornail, topped up the cells with ionised water, and cycled it twice. Put it in the XR3i, and perfect ! Never a problem with it since and holds a full charge nicely. Ive since tried it on my other old batteries, and has worked on every single one of them to a good degree. The guy next door who runs a fleet of hire vehicles brought a couple on my reccomendation, and cant sing its praises high enough.

So if you want a cheap 'lecy suplly for meetings, pop down to ATS/Kwic Fit/National, ask if they have an old high-capacity battery they have taken out of a customers car - they will give it to you for free normally, specialy if you know them - buy the above charger ( or one like it that reconditions and deep-cycles ) for 40-45 quid, and you will never have to worry about buying another charging battery ever again as you can pick up old ones for free... and if you do get a 'dud' battery that really wont recondition, just pop down and get another one.... and you get a great charger for the 'real' car into the bargain

Hope that helps...

Ian F
29-03-2012, 04:27 PM

Oh and im going to try to write a report of the day as well. Its something that was done in the past for the WRCA series from Leighton and DCM to name but two, so as we all had a stonking day yesterday thought id attempt a report... Dont expect anything brilliant like Jimmy does, and it will be from my eyes mostly ( although i have asked a couple of people for their views ill add in ), but would be better than nothing... i hope..

Ive got a good few photos, but if anyone else got some good ones or vids can they let me have them ? if you have, please PM me and ill give you my main e-mail address to send the good ones to and ill add them to the report. i saw a few people with cameras yesterday, so i know they are out there !

I was also going to try to add peoples cars to the entry list, give us all an idea of who is running what, and what works well at what tracks. For example it seemed most Schumachers Cougars struggled yesterday for one reason or another.

Once i get the entry list, ill ask you to add what cars you were running. Bit of fun and a chance to be nosey if nothing else !

If the reports crap, well at least ill have tried

I've got a video of a car on the track practising too.

Something needs to go in the report about Dean's ability to snap left hand front SX wishbones in what seemed like every round.......

Matt- James had a small camera mounted on his wing, not sure what it picked up but could be a cool vid.

I think a report will be good , few pics and get it sent off to Racer and RRCI to promote our regional.

maybe a small interview with diffrent driver at each round- more the up and comnig ones than us has beens or old folk.

the SV that blew me sideways didnt have any issues from where i stood :):)

That would be good - have a shufty at it and if its good let me have it :)

Yeeeessss...... but one step at a time Chris, let me see if its any good first - it could be the worst load of rubbish ever typed out by a complete muppet... i.e. me.

maybe a small interview with diffrent driver at each round- more the up and comnig ones than us has beens or old folk.

I like that idea. An 'oldie' and a 'newie' interview each round. Could be good. If i get the time ill try that.

I4n, pm me anything you have on Deans car crashing propblems... And let me have the vid when you can.

If anyone has anything funny or interersting to say of the day, just PM me the details....

I no wa u mean lol but ill work on the fixing for the camera, but atleast I no my shocks wrk lol

it was the steering , turnbuckles and the front wheels working I liked. the whine down the straight was cool.

maybe a little higher on the wing?

jaysllim
03-04-2012, 09:08 PM
Ye nd more to the right, the whine is also coz the mic is litraly taped to the diff housing but wen I first played it I so wanted to ring u up nd say "see theres tha noise I was on bought" but then realised were the mic was.

Nd I I want a rear facing cam coz if I had it at the event it would have shown dave taking his revenge on me bu taking me out as im on the power to come down the straight lol
