View Full Version : RACE REPORT!! WORKSOP!!

Hi Guys,
Well... We had a great day on Sunday. As some of you may know Ed Kerry came up with us and raced. It was the first time in 3 years that Ed had raced 1/10th off-road. In the first round we used a prototype one-way and unfortunately it snapped a drive-shaft. So he carried on the race on 2wd :D and half broken.
In the second round it ran really well... until the speedo thermalled out. We sorted this problem out by reaming some holes in the front of the shell and fitting a fan on top of the speedo. We also geared down a tooth. We should of expected it as it was really fast and being quite toasty indoors. (was nice being warm and inside rather than in the rain outside)
The third round was good but could have been quicker if he had a clean run.
The fourth round was the best and actually put him 14/15th overall in round. So you could imagine where he would be if he had all rounds similar to the fourth!
We ran worn tyres all day and did think after, that we should have put a new set on as most people ran a new set each round.
Ed was very happy with the balance of the car and was unhappy that he couldn't get a clean run and show the car's full potential.
We ran an old 5.5 bonded brushless motor and found it was far quicker than needed.
More than anything Sunday was a test day for us and we did achieve want we wanted.
Now on to our Team Drivers!!
WELL DONE!!!
I know I have already said this but they did very well. This was the first time out with the Pred's. Compared to everyone using a car that they would have been running for ages! There were a few teething problems, but they got sorted out and learnt a few things. Andy was the highest ranking in the Team Drivers and went brilliant. He could have been in the running for a trophy until his tyre burst. It was a great race to watch.
Garry did come first in his final:thumbsup: which was brilliant. Matt did well when he ran the car but had electronic troubles which is a shame as he didn't finish his rounds. He didn't finish his final either, I did think he was easily in for a trophy. (Unfortunately some numpty's on the stand couldn't keep their mouth's shut and were very off-putting. I do think it was unfair them taking the 'pee'. They obviously wanted all the attention on them I'm sure they'd have something to say if it were done to them!)
Shane and Peter also did well even though they had 'nightmares' getting to Worksop. Shane broke down on the way here and I believe missed practice. Peter had come straight from work - working nights, I don't know how he stayed up. ;)
We were really pleased with our drivers they are really nice lad's, enthusiastic and showed potential. We are pleased with our new Team:thumbsup:
If they did this well first time out it shows that they can easily improve... Watch this Space:thumbsup::p

good report Yanina, cheers for the support yesterday!
You have an e-mail btw
Andy
Yanina, I know there has been a lot of banter about the X11, but we all know it was just a bit of fun.
I'm sure nothing like that happens in touring cars, but as we are all friends we know it is just a laugh and we all have fun.
All the best lil ben
PS everyone was getting encouragement in their finals :)

Ben it wasn't the owner of the site that I called numpty and it was in the first final to run. I do think that cheering on etc is necessary and makes a nice atmosphere - but not these guys what they were saying and doing.

Much better idea of having the servo upright. Leaves alot more space for electrics. :)

I think they need Orange wheels on that van to take it to the next level to make it even faster !
It was my first time out with the aero as well, if you dont count southport last weekend and 2 batley test days, i had also never raced at worksop either if you dont count saturdays:confused:
Cool report though, watch out jimmy.
Oh and i think someone is angry, they wrote in black instead of orange:o

Im sure Team Extreme are pleased with the contribution of all their team drivers. Its no different to the CAT SX in respects of Ed running quietly indoors. I have done testing with the Cat (not for 'ages') yet as far as I was concerned Sunday was its first competitive outing. Would of been crazy to put the car out having never run it at all.
Ed is a quick driver and although a difficult day (i was ref'ing his heat at times) still showed glimses of the car being capable.

In the right hands in the old days ? Ie Sloppy /Moore / Mitcham and a few other top names the Pred was the one to try and keep up with at worksop ! I ran a Mitch 98 back then and as long as there wernt to many big jumps you could clean up on the flat stuff ! It was like a good touring car.
In heat 2 on Sunday there were a couple of preds the one that was really quick could pull 3-6 M on me on the flat corners he just struggeld a little with the table top and the small double single.
Driving a pred I think is still the same you drive it like you stole it on the flat stuff but you only give it 80% on the rough stuff !
And back then you had to worry about stripping diffs etc etc ! You used to have 2-3 diffs pre built for each meeting. All that has been sorted now! With the right track and the right hands I dont think much could keep pace with a pred !
" cant belive I just said that But I loved that car just couldnt afford back then to keep running one ! "
and thats having driven most Cats/Yoko/Losi/ etc etc .
Keep at it GUYS !

I would have loved to have run one of these cars at the nationals but the opertunity did not arise. I think team xtream are doing a fantastic job and they are a british company, with the new cat the future I hope is good for british racing good look all the team xtream drivers for this season.

No problem Ben, just tell Gary how you really feel about him, I'm sure he'll understand.
being gay is accepted these days, you just have to come out with it, even if he doesn't feel the same for you. It will be hard for you but hey, we're here for you!

Like Bondy hinted, looked like you need to give it only 90% and let the inherent speed in the car do the work.

Hi, we'll be there on Sunday I believe they are having an open club race day. We are going to do some testing there:thumbsup:
Cool I will be doing a few regionals so plan on using it there but my x10 suffered a bit with gears etc so just wanted to get an idea of durablility as EPO is a good test of that.

We did take a prototype X11 there last year battered the hell out of it. Launched off jumps etc and it survived for half a day and that was in the pouring rain. So pouring that they cancelled the meeting.
