I use mine on my monitor with the hdmi cable mike. Works nice but my monitor speakers are rubbish so sounds a bit poor. I used to use a VGA adaptor on my ps2 and that was on standard VGA 17 inch monitor. That worked ok to.

Does your monitor have hdmi input ?

Or do you use a hdmi to dvi cable ?

Hdmi is digital and vga is analogue, would this process the hdmi signal this way ?

The PS3 along with most other HDMI devices doesn't support VGA over HDMI therefore you need the PS3 multi out to VGA lead to connect your PS3 to a VGA monitor.
