What make of car?

Hi i'v been looking at 2wd and 4wd buggies for the coming season.
Now I do like to run both 2wd and 4wd from the same manufacturer as most parts cross over.
So the question is what two cars from what manufacturer would you choose?

Tamiya
Schumacher
Associated
Kyosho
Durango
Ansmann

Anything else that you would recommend?

Depends on a lot of things mate I suppose, I run a 410r in 4wd but I'll be buggered if I'm spending almost the same again on a 2wd buggy, My 2wd ride is an Ansmann Mad Monkey, bargain at £70 and goes well. Got other commitments too.

That said, it can also depend on other factors, Lifers, who never change marques. Snobbery, which is big in our hobby, and which makes people turn their noses up at certain makes and of course, money, which is the root of all evil. We'd all like the best, but sometimes our bank accounts and/or talent cant justify such expenditure :lol:

I know what your saying about lifers (running the same marque for years)
I normally wouldn't need to ask as I would just buy associated, but i'm a little bit out on buggies, things look closer than ever so I'm wondering what if people could choose any car combo from a manufacturer what would you go for?

I suppose its what you like,had a cougar so i bought a sx3 was ok
But my next pair is the rb5 vega and the lazer zx5 fs sp2 these are the best build cars i have had off road the only thing that comes close it the xray cars.

Even from the same manufacturer there often isn't that much of a parts crossover, at least not on useful stuff. And what parts do cross over will often do so across brands as long as you stay metric or imperial (nuts, balls, bearings etc) as there is a surprising degree of compatibility out there.
So whilst I've just got a DEX210, I doubt getting a 410 will offer much more parts crossover than my Yokomo does!

Chris, It possibly also depends if you're looking at "all in the box" type kits or conversions as well. I think it's fair to say that the accepted wisdom is that mid motored 2wd's are generally preferred in the UK. Bearing this in mind, Associated, Tamiya and Kyosho will all require a conversion kit for their base 2wd kit to get to mid motor.

I changed over to a B44.1 from the durango, when I looked at the various chassis out in the marketplace I thought the car was of a high spec and the best value for money, plus I have experience with a B44 so that helped with my choice :) from a 2wd perspective if I was to run that class I'd probably go with an SV2 - Different manufactorer but I wouldn't need a conversion kit. Would definately consider an X2C as well.

Think when it comes to swapover of parts to and from 4wd & 2wd yeah I can see where you're coming from, but IMO barring rear rims and a few other parts which could be inter changable % might find that I'd need a seperate parts package for both cars.

Chris i went to schumacher last yr, and can honestly say 4wd is better then durango and b44 of which i both had. The sx3 is a very good car!

scumacher got the wheels correct, old style durango(pins) current associated fit ok, schumacher front are also imperial to allow swap over, for me made the choice easier as i dont need new whels and tyres
