Hi,

I have a 2wd Ultima RB5 bought 2nd hand (very good condition) 2-3 yrs ago, so I suppose this makes it an original RB5. I have only got round to racing it once which was about 2 yrs ago - it seemed to run well except a club member suggested the slipper was too loose - I'm afraid my previous off road experience is 25 yrs old so did not know about slippers etc.

Anyway, since then it has lived in a spare bedroom followed by a shed, through a couple of winters. I would like to do some off road this year, maybe even one of the regional series and was wondering what you suggest I do to ensure the car is in race condition. Should I just race it as is and see how it runs, making adjustments if necessary, or is a full/partial rebuild in order?

Seeing as I never built it originally, I'm not familiar with this process. I suppose I could try and get hold of some instructions and follow them.

Any views gratefully received!

Barry

Hi Barry, I have ran the original RB5 recently too and it was competitive and decent.

Instructions you can download of the kyosho website
http://kyosho.com/eng/support/instructionmanual/buggy/buggy_index.html

If you need any set ups search petit rc or give us a shout as there are plenty out there to get you going in the right direction.

Check the diffs all lubed and you have oil in the shocks and you should be on your way.

Good luck. I really enjoyed my run with the original RB5

Thanks Adon. Regarding set ups, should I just set it up to the kit set up and see how I get on, or try a setup for the surface I'll be racing on?

Cheers,
Barry

Try looking on here. You will probably run Astro, Carpet or Grass here in the UK so maybe start with one of those, depending where you race and go from there.

The original RB5 was a more or less one-set-up suits all sort of car BUT that setup is quite removed from the kit setup for the UK (kit setup is for dirt).

Where can I get an all-rounder set up from if the kit one is not suitable?

Cheers,
Barry
