Intend to be there as with all rounds, barring any crisis etc,

but not interested in paying up front, have discussed this with Chris so he can pencil me in...

have other series/meetings i'm more committed to and race to a very tight budget as is.

didn't have to pay upfront last year and don't for other series i'm doing?

Would happily pay a few days in advance when it would be clearer that i'm definitely attending but don't want the hassle of tieing budget up weeks before a meeting...

know its only £8 per round but its also a lot more in fuel getting to the rounds, staying fed and watered and having to purchase tyres for unknown venues when the whole SCT tyre debate is yet to start for outdoor tyres... there are a lot of new more competition based tyres available now that were not last year (R.I.P Koarse Kings unfortunately!) and its going to be important to choose the right patterns/compounds... especially when they cost twice a pair on rims to buggy tyres for spikes, three times as much a pair for dirt tyres on rims and possibly will have same wear rates as buggy tyres?! going to be expensive year for SCT's and could damage the class as its not cheap racing if tyres are too consumable at those prices

A lot of other SCT racers i know feel the same.

understand the numbers needed for trophy ordering purposes and booking in details.... but these can be given up front and trophies if manufactured sensibly can be carried over throughout the series if ordered in bulk as the season starts.

Anyways, is there company sponsorship this year?

are there prizes or raffles?

entry costs have crept up a fair percentage too so what are we getting to justify this compared to last year especially when a charity is no longer involved? more heats? longer races?

Especially when i've heard that the host clubs have to run the events this year rather than series organisers?

I think the best way round expensive tyres are to find a company willing to sponsor the whole series that offer a good selection of tyres to use i.e Schumacher, maybe D Boots if they get some more compounds out? Only drawback would be that we would have to use only those tyres. so in some aspects thats good? At least were all on the same tyres?

Driven axles as usual... There is an issue on the dirt tracks though... The dirt tyre manufacturers don't make astro tyres and vice versa...

There are a couple of distributors that do both types though and could have done deals with the series if it had been considered and organised.

dBoots/AKA and Fastrax/Proline

Unfortunately it would put Schuey tyres out of the running as they have no dirt tyres.

If we all had to run spikes on dirt though it could be fun!

I'm all for control tyres, puts more emphasis on driving rather than biggest wallet

I know SC was suppose to be a cheep racing solution but like with any growing class new things get introduced. This means that people can race faster and get better in my opinion. I defo spend more money on my buggies than i do on SC and i bet its not just me that does.

Agree dude and will still do the same as much as possible of course, can just see that SCT's will be a harder hit as tyres/wheels cost more... don't want to see people dropping out or being put off the series by having to throw National buggy racing money at the trucks to get anywhere.

Some of us are lucky to have sponsors that help very generously... i'm thinking of those that haven't and the beginners/juniors this series trys to encourage... your ok anyways for SCT tyres at discount... you got scouted by the right companies!!! wish i had your thumbs :(

I guess we were just lucky last year to have unofficial control tyres for Astro through limited/slower manufacturer uptake..

Maybe the dirt events should have a rule where it's supplied kit tyres only... that would sort out the Durango and Blitz ESE racers out :woot: in fact the whole series should have this rule,

Just hope the class can scrape through and carry on growing cos i love the SCT racing :thumbsup:

Can't make up my mind if its worth doing this year with so few entries at the moment,think it was left to late when announcing the dates as most peeps have already sorted out their racing calender.

I wouldn't base the decision on the driver list too much,

Coventry is set to be a busy meeting,

I could put another 8 names onto the 2WD list and 2 onto the 4WD list,

but they won't pre-pay for same reasons i've mentioned.

The organisers are aware of this already.

Durango can be built rear too (doh!) and would have thought it could be done to the prototype using DEX210 parts from the shelf as the rear bumper/motorguard are already there... looks like just a gearbox swap but wasn't allowed to touch it too much to notice closely!

Either way it's going to be a killer on astro, well it was!

Only advantage we have Rob is the fact we have spares available... how about stocking up and stretching the rubbing is racing rules a little bit to eliminate the Brooky trophy hoarder (thing is bloomin strong too so may take a tag team effort!)

got some J Concepts Subcultures green compound (whatever that is but feel soft) for rear, got a full set of Losi Eclipse kit proper dirt tyres, proline calibers fronts and some well worn nanobytes for all round if needed to try, probably good for a neutral front.

Know where there is some Proline Holeshot oOple control tyres front ribs and rears but holding off temptation bearing in mind i've just stocked up on 7 sets of buggy tyres to start season off last week :thumbdown:

We have added about 80 ton of fresh dirt to the track the surface has been broken up an re rolled, astro has gone from the jumps and they have either been reprofiled or change completely. As the surface is brand new so to speak it offers very little in the way of grip right now...

In the past we have found that a soft multilayer type tyre (think Cityblock, Megagrid, Caliber) works best as they bite through the dust, I've tried some holeshots on my buggy this year and they didn't really work. From the jconcepts range I have always preferred goosebumps ;)

To right Brooky is a god that is why we all follow him. I think we need some umbrella girls like at super bikes because then he might get distracted and give us a chance.

But it is great to watch Brooky and race with him I wish I was half as good as him with the sticks and thumbs.

At last I have the right tyres for the circuit in my growing box of tyres (pro line calibers). So I shouldn't be getting lapped by the the thumbs( Brooky ) but we will see:

Lewis was a bit rough with it, must admit! The lightweight Diff mod, was a bit of a mistake too in hindsight! :thumbsup:

As for the screws...

I do keep telling people off in mass for moving hoses when they feel it's easier than trying to drive round the track laid out for them. i would apologise for them leaving screws sticking out left right and centre when they do this but hopefully they will one day be the first to rip their car to bits and learn a hard lesson, rather than the poor unsuspecting racers that get bitten by their stupidity later on!

But then again i mysteriously lost a whole front corner from my 22 by a neglected track pin sticking out of a hose at a Regional last year... so :p, call it quits (even though it was neither of our faults and you definitely got the cheaper repair bill!)

Then again, track walking before an event is free of charge before a meeting starts, so nobody can ever really complain at any event.

So we have a fresh surface to play on at Coventry....

Need as many people down on Saturday to practice and get it bedded in then :thumbsup:

If the weather is good it will be run on the dirt track, if not I believe it will be held on the astro turf.

Noticed from the venue guide that SHRCCC is the Southern most track for this year Nationals. Reckon you guys will be making the trek south?. Could be an idea time to pick up a decent finish! :thumbsup:

Would be good to know sooner rather than later if astro or dirt,big setup changes between the two surfaces for me!diff oils,shock oils,tyre glueing ect,and with an SC10 4x4 not such an easy task to change all that:cry:

The intention is to run on the dirt track, the only thing that will stop that is if it is chucking it down with rain or the track is covered with standing water that cannot be cleared.

So set your truck up for Dirt, if you end up on the Astro it will be low grip anyway as it will be sodden!

I know a fair few racers from 'oop North' planning on racing at the SHRCCC SCT National round... but it's been noticed that entries for the rounds 'oop North' are low in support from the more Southern areas of the country!

don't worry, we'll bring our talent 'daaan Saaaarf' to show you how it's done SCT stylee :woot:

It's the Mid East brigade you want to watch out for... we've done far more 'rubbin' is racin' than elsewhere so have the tricks practiced and in the bag for when they're needed... Smithy and Brooky will be nose to tail and on full attack :thumbsup:
