The weather forecast for Sunday is really quite good. Metcheck shows fine all day. My money is currently on Tony Bishop to take the 2WD A final but I think Guy Rogers will give him a run for his money along with local boy Mike Dean. I think I will be lucky to make the B myself!

Update:

We now have nearly 60 entries for the first Oswestry GP - this has exceeded our expectations given there is a National on the same day. We do still have space though - so if anyone wants to enter they can do by sending me an email to nr.oliver@btopenworld.com Remember that we are catering for 2WD, 4WD and those mad SCTs

Booking in will commence at 8am, followed by practice in heat order. Drivers briefing at around 9:30, followed by a minimum of 4 heats and then finals for all. Trophies for TQ of each class and for the winners of each final.

Weather isnt looking bad either. Metcheck shows fair all day and 0mm of rain.

We hope to have a small shop on site, courtesy of Bryn Pound. We wont be having a food van for this event - so bring your sandwiches and a flask - or there is a Burger King just 5 minutes away.

Black round rubber ones! :p

I did a club night their the other night with my SCT and found Sch Yellows on the rear worked great and kit tyres on front faired kind of ok also. I think most guys run Sch Yellows all round to be honest from what I seen but I am sure somebody will come back with a better answer.

See you their on Sunday!

Schumacher yellows are the best option if it's dry, otherwise ballistic greens in the wet.

It should turn out 2b a good days racing. Excellent turn out.

We have been at the track today and it is looking fantastic. We have built a new track to remove any home advantage. I left before it was finished but Ash, Jeff and Mike were still hard at it - we even had a guest appearance from the owner of RC-AREA - come to see what was going on. RC Area have exclusive pictures here (http://www.rc-area.co.uk/2012/05/12/oswestry-ozfest-grand-prix-track-layout/)

Really enjoyable days racing today... many thanks to all the Oswestry boys for running a very slick meeting

I have to be honest and say that over previous years Oswestry has been one of the Mid West Regional tracks that I've not really enjoyed... however the track layout today was a-mazing  Even though it was a tricky track to drive a full race without errors, it was also a track that you could attack and have some close racing on.

Having the straight at the back of the track running anti-clockwise was perfect - I really hope we see something simular for the Mid West regional meeting as I'm really looking forward to racing there again soon.

Many thanks guys,

Jon Seals.

Thank you to everyone who raced at the Oswestry GP today - we really appreciate it and hope you all had a good time. From my point of view it was good to see such a wide range of talent and experience racing side by side in a competitive event. There were people racing who had never raced in a meeting outside a club night and the ones I spoke to said they really enjoyed the experience. I saw many examples of experienced drivers giving a helping hand to the newer and younger racers so many thanks to them.

Considering this was the first time we have run this event and with it being on the same day as a national we were pleased with the turn-out. If we do the same again I am sure we would attract even more drivers. The big question for me is if we do it on the same day as a National again? Doing so allows a large population of non F1 drivers to shine. If we open it up to everyone I wonder if the club racers would want to participate. This is something we will need to consider over the next few months.

Anyway, thank you again and well done to all those who came away with silverware. (which I didnt ::cry:)
