Hi,

I'm just after a bit of advice after being out of racing for about 15years!! everything seems to be really technical now a days:bored:
Ive just picked up a nearly new schumacher cougar sv (only used twice) that is fitted with a etronix esc and motor combo 4370kv, is this kind of motor going to be competitive as im planning on racing it at the bury rc club, also what size battery would you recommend to use in a race meeting to last the duration of a race, it comes with 40c lithium polymer 7.4 5000mAh (2S1P) high performance battery (what ever that is) ha!!

Battery should last race duration no problem. Don't know anything about your esc/motor though.

Ive recently come back to racing after a similar amount of time and had the same sort of problems at first.
Most motors are still rated in turns(lower=faster) and the motor you have there would be approx 9 turn i beleive. If it is that should be fine at least untill you get your eye back in! Im three meetings in and currently running at 7.5t which seems just about right where i race.
As Ian said above that battery should last easily for one race and probably for two or three!! No need to have loads of packs either, you can get away with just the one and top up during the day.

I used that esc and motor for about 4-5 meetings last year in my first season, but then upgraded to speedpassion v3 6.5t as it was lacking a bit on the straights and couldn't keep up with the faster kit.
If your starting out again should be fine to get back into it :thumbsup:

thanks for the advise, was a bit unsure if i was gonna be left behind , and if i'd need about 10 batteries like back in the old days, guess i'll just give it a go, cant wait!!!:thumbsup:

That setup will be fine at Bury. My Dex210 is as competitive as anything else in 2wd there at the moment running with a 10.5t. The main straight isn't that long, and there is normally a tight corner in and out so the raw speed of a 6.5t doesn't help that much, and I find the 10.5t much easier to drive in the infield.
You certainly won't be the only one in 2wd running that esc and motor, and you won't find it slow. The only thing you might find is that being sensorless its not as smooth around tight corner as a sensored setup but it will be fine for a good while.

As for the battery - with that motor I'd expect you could run 3 full races without recharging so its more than fine! Just top up between races - if its a quiet meeting we have a short break between rounds to give you time to charge.
