Morning all

Having spent 25+ years playing with RC cars in the street/parks etc, I really fancy having a go at racing.

I've convinced my brother, brother in law and nephew to join me.

We've each bought a Tamiya M05, just silver cans and two 7.2v 3700 nimh each, nothing fancy.

The cars are mostly built and we would love to go to the Mansfield club which was highly recommended by PBM racing.

I'm running a 2.4ghz radio but the others are on 27mhz with only a single crystal each.

What equipment do we need to bring apart from the cars, batteries and radio gear?

I hope to see you all soon!

Ian.

Hi Ian and welcome

Just turn up on the night mate :-)

Some one is normal there by 5.30 and booking in is by 7pm

If you get there earlier then you can practise and help with track.

Make sure you got some form charging cause there will be practise, 3 rounds and a final to race.

The club will surply a hand out transponder for each of you that will count your laps. You will have to make a small hole in your shell were it clips to.
We will sort that for you all on the night

As for crystals this maybe an issue but at worst we can put you all in same race together.

And if you want cup tea or coffee bring cup with you.

And don't worry mate we are a very friendly bunch people

Cheers

Jason A

hi, can't really see the crystals being a problem. Most people are on either 2.4 or 40 meg.

Thanks for your replies Jason and John!

The crystal situation is good to hear. I've got a fast charger to keep the batteries topped up. The opportunity to practice is very welcome news!

I'm mostly happy with my m05. The one area which concerns me are the shocks, no damping whatsoever! and I won't be able to change them for oil shocks before wednesday.

What time does racing finish?

I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!

Thanks again

Ian.

It normally finishes around 10, but depends a bit on how many drivers we have. Track is normally packed away by 10.30

Wouldn't worry too much about the shocks for the first race night, you'll spend the first night just getting in to it.

See you Wednesday, I'm sure you'll have a good time :-)

Oh, and have a look at the thread in our section "Mansfield racing" it will give you most of the info you need to get started (you will need to join the BRCA after 3 race meetings to get your insurance, but we'll look into that on Wed)

We had a great time on wednesday!

Gutted that I wrecked the body shell, I won't be putting as much effort into painting the next one that's for sure!

Can't make next wednesday, got a parent's evening.

We'll be back on 9th May with a few minor upgrades.
