Hello!
I recently talked to a guy that wants to trade away his Pred XRS! Now I just need to wait for him to reply if he wants to trade it for my home-made crawler project that I didn't finished. It seems like it's going to be a trade:thumbsup:!
But the Pred he trades isn't fully ready to go. There are missing some parts and a diff is slipping. Not so much although. But anyway, I'm going to order the missing and broken parts if there will be a trade. At the same time I will order some parts that usually breaks during a crash for example. But I don't have any idea which parts I should get for the Pred. A-arms I don't think I need because I'll get a whole extra set of A-arms. But what else? Thanks!:)

Also, it might be worth buying one of the bulk packs of wheels?
These are great value for money, and will keep you going for a long while.
Hope this helps,

very true!... but go for either the orange or black ones, the white ones are fragile, they cost me a qualifier on sunday

they do a x10 spares pack which includes the above plus more except the spur gear so i'd just get that and a couple of of x11 spurs.

Essential Spares Pack To Have Includes: 1 Of Each Wishbone 1 Set Of Wheels 2 Of Each Upright Standard Ball Joints Long Standard Ball Joints "
Here is the spares pack good value with some vital spares :).. maybe this would be worth a go like Col300 says, buy a couple of spure gears ( X11 ) too and maybe a gearbox top too and see how you get on..
Wil you be racing he car, or is it just for bashing ?

I saw that happen. It just sort of disintergrated with 3 big cracks across the wheel.

I'd just like to point out, that the reason this happened is all Wheel Drive Disc's were actually put on back to front and so instead of supporting the wheel it just caused friction. This was the case for all of the car's who had wheels that cracked.

it also had a LOT to do with how hard he hit the kerb during his warm-up lap!!!! :woot:
apart from that though, the car was looking very good by the end of the day but sounding a little rough!
it appears to be a big improvement over the X10, which is good.

Thanks a lot guys! I appreciate the help you give me. Let's just hope I get the Pred!:) It really seems to be a nice car, I love it!
I'm not going to race seriously. I would if I had the opportunity but unfortunately here aren't any 1:10 electric buggy races in the Southern part of Finland. Just in the north and of course the Wasa Cross but that's all:(. So the car is mainly going to be used for racing with my friends and at the local club track.

funny thing was, i noticed that on the second lap, there was a small hole in the wheel, and i drove a bit slower to try and make the wheel last the race, but in driving slower, i was going quicker overall, if that makes sense?

Not sure how you can put the drive disc's on the wrong way round, must have done the wheels up really tight to actually get any drive. Never had a problem with the x10 wheels:thumbsup: think they are plenty strong enough. Although I guess it does come down to what you hit with them.

not any tighter than normal.... the other side of the disc is just flat, so it doesnt make a difference... only thing is you dont get the support from the raised area on the disc into the wheel, which in turn makes it weaker...
Why do they continue to make a different fitment of wheels, pretty much every other car used the std losi/ae hex and pins.
Garry Driffill
15-04-2008, 01:08 PM
To me the X10 / X11 wheel fitment looks far stronger than a losi or AE fitment as ive seen Losi wheels especially the fronts strip alot. Ive never heard of a predator wheel strip on the later cars with this fitment.. but could be wrong.
Alfonzo
15-04-2008, 01:25 PM
Because the offsets are different IIRC, so to make use of Losi style wheels would entail a complete suspension re-design, amongst other reasons.
Garry Driffill
15-04-2008, 01:27 PM
I tried my X11 rear wheels on my X-6 and the off-set is alot, so if losi wheels was used it would be an opasite effect making the wheel base mega wide ?

For anyone really interested in the wheels - i did look seriously into converting my X10 to run Losi wheels. The fronts are possible, would need some adaptors making up, but is possible with the offset considderations. Rears - no chance!! Car would be far too wide - which is a shame.

GarryYeah, I've searched on Ebay too but haven't find anything. But anyway my LHS sometimes sell some used Preds for a really nice price. During the year I've seen about 2-3 Preds for sale! Unfortunately I didn't have so much money so I could afford to buy one. Yet...

that is a real bummer man.. dont worry, im sure there are a ton out there somewhere but also just think about saving a little more and buying a fresh new kit that no body has tampered with yet.. i have gotten cars in trades or sales that i end up having to put more money into to get rid of all the slop and play that the parts have developed from use and abuse. its worth it to save the extra and buy a new kit. xrs or x11 they are both really great kits and the xrs is fully upgradable to an x10 or x11 when your budget allows.

OK,
I dont think anyone can dispute the fact that there are better cars on the market than the XRS.
Even the B44 @ £150 is better in every way.
I stand by what i say, i think the bloke can do better than a pred.

i didnt know that cooper... thought it was the same as the x10... thanks for clearing that up :)
and rcbob... this discussion has been had many times.. the main reason why "all" the "top" drivers dont run one is because they are all sponsored by the likes of associated/ hotbodies etc... nothing to do with the actual car.... ;)

Tom,
People can move teams at the end of the season though, you had yardy who is one of the top drivers in the country, he moved on, you had northy, he moved on, Why???
I dont think losi are all that interested in 1/10th Off road, i dont even think bloomers in doing the nats this year, im sure if he approached Xtreme they would snap him up, but the fact is the drivers dont. And the X11 isn`t a new car yardy ran variations of it early last year and Northy had one for southport National so people could see its potential, the truth is they believe other cars have more.
Not having a go mate but i do think some of the kids on this section of the forum have there heads buried in the sand:)

some are only 15/16 im sure thats still pre-adult??
They can do there own thing and nobody is stopping them, to be honest nobody has even taken the pee out the car for a while its just friendly banter, i got the pee taken out of the aero for its springs. But i laughed and came back with a response about there car.

I don't think you over-reacted Tom. You just expressed your opinion, which others have done. And like many they will judge the car without trying:thumbdown: - which makes no sense to me. The X11 is a new car! If people looked hard enough they would see that. At least it is 100% unique and original - not a clone or copy!:p

Ben she never said that it was a copy/clone. Just the fact its used other brands parts to compile anouther cars parts along with some home made ( i might add very good quality parts ) to amke anouther car. All in all the S4 when i used one i never had any problems with it and it was very good. Im not nocking atomic carbon in anyway at all, absolutly fantastic work.
The X11 hasnt used any other brands parts... even other brands wheels ! A true origional which is these days its very rare to see a differnt concept.

The using of anouther compays parts / drivetrain and alike seems to be abit of a waste maybe the effort and time that goes into making the chasis and awsome carbon fibre products maybe in time we might see a full car from atomic carbon or anyother growing brands that are getting bigger all the time like X-Factory maybe too would be ace. But on the downside it costs an arm and a leg.
ok now i know wot ya on about.:p Course i agree with most of the stuff you say:thumbsup:

I think this situation of people jumping in threads, just to give a comment which is completely unessessary and not needed is getting out of hand, especially in the xtreme area.

why so defensive of the x11?? i know they have had probs in the past (weak gears ect) but thats been addressed. the x11 isnt anything "new" as such but an evolution of many years of perserverence. i still own an old p8 which i think is fantastic, reliable (ran same gears for a full season n still in good nick:thumbsup:) i think ppl will slate the x11 and drivers on its previous cars reputation but i dont think its a good idea to rise to it verbally. jus get it on the track n let this car speak for its self!! Btw i was accepted as a trade team driver like all the rest of team xtreme but now decided to back down, stick with me p8, n modify that (like a true pred driver used to) and maybe delve into something else where its not so petty. maybe 1/8 truggy at club level............yes that right ppl club level.

I got the car yesterday and damn it looks nice! But it need some new parts to get driveable like a front gearbox top, some front wheels (I just got 7 rear wheels), rear wing mount, some screws and diff balls and maybe a new outdrive because the former owner had tighten the diff to hard so the diff screw had broken and got stuck inside the outdrive and it's impossible to get it out without ruining the outdrive:(. But for 60€ I'm happy with the car. I got an extra set of arms, front & rear hubs and some other stuff:).
For the diff, would these balls fit?

By the way, I'm going to order some parts for my Pred from TeamXtreme soon. I was thinking of bying some new front aluminium rockers. The X11 blue anodised look really nice. Does somebody know if they fit XRS without any modifications or extra parts?

Hello! Well not very well. Just need more money to complete the build. But I've painted the body and I'm really happy with the result!
Here's a pic of the car, or actually half the car:D, still need some parts for the front end

paint job looks sweet!!!.... the X11 rockers should just drop straight on to your XRS no problem! (im 99% sure of that anyway! - never owned an XRS though)..
keep us informed of how your getting on!
PS.... you got enough stickers on it?

Thanks:). Well, the stickers were there before I painted the body. The guy I bought it from had only put stickers on the car but not painted it, weird. I'm going to take some of them off because it's too much!
Good to hear about the rockers! But I'll email TeamXtreme just in case to be 100% sure. And I will keep you guys informed, thanks again:thumbsup:

Hehe, nice! A picture of your Pred would be nice too:)
Another quest... Do I need two of this Wing Mount (http://www.teamxtreme.co.uk/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=217)? I only got one part of the wing mount on my Pred so I need a new one, and I heard the X11 wing mount is a lot stronger...

Hi Tobbee
I have got into the system and checked. Your order was sent out beginning of this week. It should have automatically updated. I have done it manually. But your order was definitely sent early this week!

Wow! Guess what I found in the mailbox when I came home? My Predator parts! Thank you TeamXtreme! And I apologize for my last message of critisizing you:blush:.
I began to build it immediately, but now I've some problems with the diff. It loosen itself up! No matter how I adjust it it will loosen up! Should I put some threadlock on the diff screw so it won't loosen anymore?
Edit: I found the problem. The former owner had locked the diff by gluing the thrust plates together. So when I now tried to rebuild the diff there were some glue inside the outdrive that prevented the thrust bearing to rotate:). So now the diff is working again:thumbsup:

Yeah, put some thread lock on the diff screw. That's what I do in my x11 :)

Got some tires today (Proline Holeshot), glued them to the wheels and went out for a test drive. I just have to say Wow! The handling was superb! It also turned really well, but not perfect, it's the servos fault because I use a standard cheap Hitec servo...But I will order a better one soon:thumbsup:.
But after about 3-4 mins. the ESC shut down because of over-heating, the motor was also really hot (I couldn't keep my finger on the motor for longer than 3 sec.)! I use a bonded Novak 6.5R motor and a 17 pinion and stock spur. I didn't use the body at all because it's really tight to get everything to fit under it. I'm pretty sure the gearing is wrong but I didn't had any smaller pinions at home. So what gearing do you use in your Preds?
Oh and btw, I ordered a sintered rotor today to see if I can get the temps lower.

Fit the sintered rotor and a 16 tooth pinion and try that.
I used to run a 15 on a 5.5.

Just checked the XRS-manual.
I found this picture on page 4, explaining how to mount the diff.
http://ludodg.com/RC/Predator/diff_lock_XRS.jpg
When looking into the X10-manual, it's clear that they used the same pictures, but this time added the necessary comment that you need to use threadlock.
http://ludodg.com/RC/Predator/diff_lock_X10.jpg
I also use a trick a friend and pred-owner learned me: tune the diff, and then add a little drop of CA-glue to secure it.
Is your friend Bmag?

Yup, threadlock the diffs, you can still adjust them, just makes them less likely to loosen up....
In my X11 I run a nosram 6.5 and with the 72 kit spur a 19 pinion, its never shut down due to temperature, and never gets worryingly hot..
Hope this helps...

Thanks Lowie, but the reason why it loosen itself up was because there were some glue in the outdrive that prevented the thrust bearing to rotate, so when i tried to rotate the diff then the screw instead rotated and got loose. But now it's fixed and it still very smooth and tight after few runs:).
Tom3012: How hot does your motor get? Has the motor a sintered rotor? Mine gets really really hot even without the body:thumbdown:. But as I said before, a sintered rotor is on the way so I hope it'll fix the problem:thumbsup:

its all about gearing if you have the wrong gearing right now then putting in a different rotor will nt make a difference.. go down a few teeth on the pinion.

Just call me tom! lol...
It very rarely gets untouchable hot... only if its a really warm day and im driving like a looney! a its just a standard bonded rotor... cant think as to why yours is getting so hot though, is your slipper really tight/loose?

What tyres are you running? Big high profile dirt tyres will alter the overall gearing.

Jeff: Yeah you are probably right. I've ordered some smaller pinions to try with to see if it helps.:)
Tom (): The slipper is as the manual says. And I can hear a little slip when I accelerate. So I think it's OK.
Northy: Proline Holeshots front and rear.

Got the sintered rotor today. Installed it and went out for a test run. Holy smokes what a difference! Before it didn't seem to have any brakes at all. Now I got too much brakes:woot:, and the acceleration was a lot better than before. And guess what. The motor temp is now cold! I didn't checked the temp. but I would guess it was around 30 degrees Celsius and I run in long grass! Before it was about 70-80 degrees Celsius or more all the time:thumbdown:. What a difference:lol:.

If you using the same gearing, i understand it is cooler. the point and advantage with the Sintred rotors is, torque and you can gear it 1-3 T harder.. then you will see,the temp will go up again :).

05-06-2008, 07:51 PM
Yep, but I'll keep it as it is now. Lots of torque and great acceleration.

glad its sorted!!! the long grass will also put a lot of strain on the motor though.. cut the grass and it will stay cooler still
