Hey, not posted any photos for a while (cos I hadn't had a chance to take any lol) but here are a few recent ones :)

A few from a recent trip to Pyongyang this Summer.
The pre-dawn silence in the city is complete - not a single thing is moving - not a single lamp is on. It's not serene, but eerily inert and lifeless. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/St...0/PICT2652.JPG As the sun emerges, looking further up river to the North. Still no signs of life at all. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/St...0/PICT2654.JPG Incomprehensible density of tower blocks. http://lh5.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/St...0/PICT2812.JPG The North Koreans really seem to have a deep understanding of making housing as starkly impersonal as possible. http://lh3.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/St...0/PICT2915.JPG Traffic girl... and a propaganda poster showing a ballistic nuclear missile. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/St...0/PICT2950.JPG Now due to the nature of being under strict control of what I could photograph, many of the photos on the trip had to be taken out the windows of a vehicle, and there are some reflections and/or other artifacts that spoil things. Are there any ways (filters or something) to minimise these sort of artefacts at the time? I tried keeping the lens shaded as best I could (without alarming the officials), but is there anything that can be done post-production? other photos that show what I mean about the refelctions can be seen in this album on my picasaweb site (link). Thanks for any feedback - esp re photographing out of closed vehicle windows. Cheers, Ty |

Try the patch tool just be careful crossing hard edges. Or carefully clone/paint it out using a small brush and numerous samples and making the brush harder as you get closer to the head! |
Yea, I'll try and zoom in alot. I wish i would of shot this at 21mp instead of the medium setting of 9.9mp. It would of been better for zooming in and cleaning up those hairs. I have a Wacom tablet, so it should help.

Well this is my first attempt/experience with SLR cameras. Bought a Canon 50D with 18-200 lens only yesterday. Took this shot from my balcony here in Vancouver - Canada. Comments are welcome...

I'm not sure if the view you have there would be cool, or my worst nightmare.
Nice colour contrast between lights & sky. Loving the ship in the far background. |
I've only had my camera a week so I'm still learning a lot about how to get the best pics.
My camera is a Canon 450D with the out of the box 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS lens. Shot in manual exposure mode most of the day using the shutter speed to adjust to the light levels of being outdoor in the reserve to in the reptile house. We visited the west midlands safari park today so took some pics :) http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/Random/1.jpg 0"3 f5.6 http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/Random/2.jpg 1/40 f5.6 http://i937.photobucket.com/albums/a...t/Random/3.jpg 1/40 f5.6 |

nice flat water for the reflections
|
Yeah there wasnt any wind worth talking about today so the water was relatively calm which made for some nice reflections.

Still learning a lot about the camera. Recently started taking pics in RAW which I think is taking better pics. Now I need to learn what I need to touch up on the PC. Here's a pic of my Golf taken tonight.

Hi - I absolutely love the pan shots you've got of these Bajas. It's great how the front of the car is nice and sharp and the back and mud blur away. Awesome.
A question for you though: To get such a great low perspective on the cars, do you kneel right down, sit down, or hold the camera low near your hips and look at a re-angled view screen, or what? Thanks, Ty Quote:

I just crouch down and look through the viewfinder, sometimes it's kinda sore on the back!
I would love an angle finder but they are quite pricey! |

Really pleased with these crepuscular rays. I took this one last week on the border between Liberia and Sierra Leone. The big tree is what the locals call a "Cotton Tree". The camera was the crumby cam in my phone, but in a way the heavy vignetting almost helps out.
Cheers, Ty http://lh3.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/S4...4/DSC02129.jpg Fishing boat off Robertsport, Liberia http://lh6.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/S4...4/P1010275.JPG Awesome break - Monrovia http://lh4.ggpht.com/_4Ul5lElT5j8/S4...4/P1010257.JPG Anopheles - everyone's best friend in tropical africa...
