Have a look at the upgrade kit at £279 on mb models and wheelspin models for 2015/16 ive got a 2014 up graded to a 2015 and its ace bit of kit but then it should be at that price

The BD7 '13' only came as a Blue Anodised Kit, but the BD7 '14' gave you the Option of 'Std' & 'Black Series' Kit..........Std meant Blue Anodising throughout & Black Series meant Black/Silver Chamfered Anodising throughout!
Other than the Colour difference, both Kits were the same Spec though.

Whereas, the BD7 '15' & '16' were only Available in a Black Series model.

Personally, I'd go for a '16', as its better for Carpet & also gives you the Option of Upgrading it to a BD8, with the Conversion Kit that Yokomo currently Offers.........the BD8 is also a better Car!

With that current Setup, how does you're Car feel?

.i.e what do you feel that you're lacking?

Are you running the Std Length Shocks or the Slim Short Shocks?

john wolfe 18-02-2017 12:57 PM

Check out mb models and cml uk both list the upgrades that you get and shows the differnce for each model

Standard shocks. It lacked rear grip. No confidence in the car going into corners

I'd go with the Following mate :

FRONT
44.2 FF Block
44.2 FR Block
450 Oil/1.1 Piston/2 'O' Ring/25% Rebound
Blue Spring
Hole 2 on Tower
Short Link/1mm Inner Shim/1mm Outer Shim
2 Degree Camber
5.5 Droop
1mm Bumpsteer Shim
0.5mm Steering Shim
Spool
1.3 Rollbar

REAR
42.0 RF Block
46.4 RR Block
450 Oil/1.1 Piston/2 'O' Ring/25% Rebound
Blue Spring
Hole 2 on Tower
Short Link/1mm Inner Shim/1mm Outer Shim
2 Degree Camber
4.5 Droop
2k Diff Oil
1.2 Rollbar
Motormount screw out if using the Aluminium Chassis

That should be a pretty Safe Setup thats nice to drive, but if you find that you have too much Steering, you could switch to either a 1.4 Front Rollbar, take the the 0.5mm Shim out of the Steering or go to 3k Diff Oil.

If you find that you require alittle more Steering/Response, then you could go to Hole 3 allround on the Towers or go to Pink Springs allround.

Hope this helps.

I will try that. What ball joints do you use. Black or silver

Use the Std Silver Ballstuds with 1mm Shims, on the Inner Bulkheads.

If you feel that you require alittle more Grip, you could always Remove the 1mm Shims from the Inner Bulkheads.

The Black Ballstuds have a shorter neck, which is 1.5mm lower..........I've found if you run it like that or even lower, all it does is scrub Cornerspeed & create more Tyre Wear!

As you're Car sounds like its a BD7 - pre 2016, I'd also run the Spool & Diff in the Low Position.
..........with a 2016, you'd generally run them both in the High Position.

Yes it is the 15.

When you say have diff and spool in the lowest position but then adjust it from there depending on the tight Ness of the belt.

You mention about the engine mount bolts. There are only 4 on there. Surely it would come loose if you took bolts out

Yes, you keep the 4 Countersunk screws in, that Attach the Motormount to the Chassis, but if you're running an Aluminium Chassis, you leave out the top Button screw, that Attaches the Motormount to the Top Deck.

Scotty83 19-02-2017 09:42 AM

Oh yes. Sorry I get you know. Yes I have that out already.

Yes, Spool & Diff in Lowest Position, then just tweak the Cams for the right Belt Tension.
I think the 'Kit' Setting on the BD7 '15', was Low Position anyway, but the Front Belt may need to be one notch tighter than what the Manual said.

With the Motormount/Top Deck screw out, the Car will generally have more allround Grip & Steering, but you do Sacrifice abit of Rear Traction.........Standing the Rear Shocks up one hole, helps with that though, if you feel that you need more!

One question I do have. Anti roll bar link mounts. Is there a safe position to start with as you can mount near the end of the anti roll bar or you can move it inwards. Is it better to have them upright or at an angle?

To be honest, I've never Experimented with the Angle of the Antiroll Bar uprights, I've always ran mine so the Uprights are perfectly Vertical, which leaves around 5mm or so, of the Bar exposed.

Scotty83 20-02-2017 04:01 PM

This is something I have tried and it does make a difference to how the car feels.

Lee24h 03-03-2017 11:57 PM

Short shocks 450 all round and pink fromt springs and blue rears and 850 in the diff
