The shell is an RClexan DEX410, its slightly smoother than the origional 410,
there is no step on the side either. It also gives you more space for electrics.
and they are a bargain price too! See HarlowS on here.

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm really enjoying painting!
I just need a few more shells to paint :D

lewis666 11-01-2012 04:22 PM

where did you get those gold washers for the wing?

many thanks

lewis

VillageIdiot 11-01-2012 04:25 PM

they are just the gold part behind the whell on the rear driveshafts, doesnt fit very well but does hold the wind down :D

its not a dedicated wingmount if that helps.

jayst 11-01-2012 04:36 PM

looking good there matt

Shells

You've really taken off with the shell painting pal. Not really an expert on the field but there are some real quality eye candy designs.

Will definitely be getting you to do my next one.

Something VERY different,
My parts box, Its airbrushed on the inside of the lid. Backed with a clear then a sheet of vinyl so it doesn't get scratched.

I have rushed this a little so its not 100% perfect, It was just a trial to see if it worked!

Thats pretty cool, think I may just do one myself :D, I didn't realise how big your pitbox was before you put your buggy next too it.
L:D:)KS great

coleman758 28-01-2012 09:33 PM

They are pretty big! Perfect for racing bits!

If you do paint one, Make sure you really attack it with a scouring pad,
I didn't just cleaned it, And I was having a hard time getting the pin lines to stick to the plastic.

the design is not 100% either

Steveonamission 28-01-2012 09:37 PM

I really like that! I like it more than the shell, hope that doesn't cause offence! All nice though.

Haha! its not so good in the flesh! loads of mistakes!

I'm going to do the shells again, now I have a bit more experience, I'm going to loose some of the pin lines. Its a bit overkill.

I really like this one, Best yet i think!
The pictures really don't do it justice the only thing i think is missing,is maybe a white or pink pinstripe around the black.

Think your right, Il have to go invest in a white sheet!

eyeayen 02-02-2012 09:33 PM

A contrasting pin stripe around the darker colour would have brought it out better.

I would buy a large ( as large as you can get ) piece of thin white card. Also try using flash when you take the shot, you get a bit of hotspot where it's reflected in the body shell but it will bring the colours out, failing that shoot outside in the sun, you might have to wait until one day in late may though and then it'll be another year before you can take another good shot so I'd rely on the flash

A silver or chrome stripe would have been ace!
In person it look fine just not quite as good of the pics!

Good job Matt, can't wait to see it in the flesh

coleman758 05-02-2012 10:04 PM

Looks 100% better in the flesh

The Chef 05-02-2012 10:37 PM

As Ian said if you use a white background it will help. It may also help if you stand back from the subject and zoom in and use the flash quite heavily, you will help eliminate reflections but hopefully also pick out the colour details.

Looking good though buddy:thumbsup:

coleman758 10-02-2012 11:13 PM
