The Cougar Thread

Had my first day with the car today. It was good straight out the box, very easy to drive, handled well, jumped well, was plenty fast enough with a SP 7.5.
My expectations were far exceeded, to be honest, I didn't expect it to go that well. You know, new car, need to change this or that. But nope, changed very little. I ran the rear shocks at the back, as usual for me on all my cars and it was SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET:thumbsup:

So the build quality was superb, easy to build, straight out the box I was on it!!! What "it" that is, not sure, but I was on it!!!!

You won't be disappointed when you get your Cougar:thumbsup:

I'd like to echo the comments of DC although I've not ran the car as yet in a competitive race!! We had a 4wd Regional at Kidderminster today so I stopped off on the way home at Oswestry to give the Cougar a blast and it was superb!

Only issue I had was one of the shock housings coming loose and oil pissing everywhere but that's not a major problem what-so-ever!

Role on Tally

mikeyscott 11-04-2010 07:20 PM

3 times!!! The other two wasn't my stuff :(

niggs98 11-04-2010 07:24 PM

lol
have to say my car was fantastic. easy to build, great quality, easy to drive. had good pace and was competetive straight out of the box. roll on tally

dbizzle5 11-04-2010 07:49 PM

Ran mine at the Mid East Regional today at Robin Hood Raceway and was very pleased with the car! 70 strong attendance and gave a very average driver a great result! Well chuffed.

Run the rear shocks at the rear of the wishbone:thumbsup:

Tom3012 11-04-2010 08:03 PM

2 at southport looked good today! Any news on general release?

andyc 11-04-2010 08:41 PM

Had an e-mail from MK Racing telling me they are expecting the first batch Thursday or Friday.

bigred5765 11-04-2010 08:50 PM

have to say i agree with all said above, car is so easy to build no real issues at all, changed one or two things from box set up, ended up shocks at the rear same as dc 30wt 6 holes at the rear 37.5wt 4 holes at the front 6,5sp motor geared on 22 x 83 plenty plenty fast enough, qualified 3rd in the a finished 2nd not a bad first outing,

DCM 11-04-2010 09:32 PM

Whats the difference in handling, mounting the shocks off the back rather than on the front or the rear wishbones?

For me it's simple, it makes the car safer and easier to drive. Nice and predictible. I run both cars with the shocks at the back, 2 and 4wd, can't see me ever going back to shocks at the front.
It's not for everyone, Grant and Simon both run their shocks at the front.

DCM 12-04-2010 06:11 AM

think I will build it in that configuration right from the get go, who really likes a twitchy arse anyways :woot:

Mr. Red 12-04-2010 06:49 AM

Just hold on with both hands and never let go DC!!!

Anybody checked the total weight? Me live U.K outside. Have not yet car in hand. Very very sad I am. Soon happy again.

Awesome, maybe we'll see some at TORCH this weekend! :)

mikeyscott 12-04-2010 09:26 AM

What springs were people using as it sounds very good if it's standard. A problem with some cars these days is you buy the kit and then have to discard the kit springs and buy the optional springs etc.

Haha, yep your right!!!! Mr Red!!!
I do hope you get yours soon, and if you have any questions I know the people to ask. I just do as my mentors tell me haha, but I must say that both my Schumacher cars are going sweet!!!!!

moth898 12-04-2010 08:14 PM

How wide are the front tires? They look wider than standard. Can the schumacher tires fit on jconcept rims?

DCM 13-04-2010 06:45 AM

Which front wheels for the Staggered Ribs?

Cut down B4 rims?

Aren't Schumacher doing slim wheels, they were listed in the parts section a few weeks back but then disappeared. They were also listing pre glue slim tyres, again no longer listed.

bigred5765 13-04-2010 08:13 AM

im pretty sure they just mean slim 2wd front tyres, the std rims are same as b4 rims, just remove the inside edge for stagger ribs,

mikeyscott 13-04-2010 08:40 AM

I hope they release a slim wheel

bigred5765 13-04-2010 08:53 AM

no point just trim a std one, it will only ever get used for stagger ribs

mikeyscott 13-04-2010 09:01 AM

Will look at it later as I have a load of JC front & rear wheels

nah, i use thin wheels on the front all the time on my 2wd's carl

Mossy 13-04-2010 09:28 AM

There is already a Schumacher 2wd front rim out, a Revlite one in the same design as the 4wd. I have ran them all winter.

Si

millzy 13-04-2010 10:16 AM

yep- there is an old topic where Dan greenwood posted a pic of a 2wd front showing the area to cut ( b4 wheel but its the same0 i know this as i nagged him and gayo last year befor Tally as i ran stag rubs on the b4

yip thats exactly what we do mate, but only for staggers as slim 2wd tyre fit perfectly on the std front rims, as si said schuy do there own they are the same width as b4 front rims,no need to cut them down to use slim 2wd tyres, chris dont no anyone else doing that mate ???

DCM 13-04-2010 10:42 AM

was never happy with slim mini's on narrow rims, always felt better on the wider rims.

Does the kit come with wheels and tyres?

Wheels - yes, tyres - no ....

bigred5765 13-04-2010 11:01 AM

ours came with rims no tyres, but not sure what will be in kit for the public mate sorry, and i agree with you slim tyres on std b4 or revlite front rims are so much better/safer then on slim cut rims, just some how staggers dont seem to work for us on full width front rims
