Had to work late last night so not much done but this is how far I got:thumbsup:.

Very impressed so far with the build, great step by step instructions and no quality issues.

Will run the gearbox in tonight to remove the high spots from the external gears then clean and re-grease.

simoncrabb 14-03-2012 12:04 PM

Oh check you out with your alloy upper gearbox...

Whilst I can attest to Mark's below par grammar and spelling, on this occasion I have to concur with his point.

Buy some new wire you tight sod!

You did! I should have said "normally bad spelling".

It's Red who should have gone to Specsavers!

Is there much room to run wires down the side of the battery, and inside the undertray?

I didn't like the wires down the side personally, and with my speedo it was too tight to get them to run nicely like that, hence I stuck them over the top down the centre. I left a bit of slack to be able to lift the top deck up to get the lipos out.

Diff

:confused:Hi I built mine last night no dramas until I found that I could not get the diff not to slip not matter how tight I went with it. Then I noticed that when I take it out, hold it in the middle and turn one side they both go the same way rather than opisite ways as a diff should. I am confused and not sure what I have done wroung. Any advice please?

RickRick 15-03-2012 08:59 AM

something is holding the outdrive away from the balls, so i'd check the bearings and spaces are in correctly, the gear is fitted the correct way around, then that the thrust race assembly and circlip are seated correctly

Aaron w 15-03-2012 11:03 AM

Sounds like you have got the diff pulley the wrong way round. It's got a lip one side.

Benjy1 15-03-2012 11:23 AM

Thats what confused me in the instructions. So if Im pushing the gear onto the male outdrive should the lip face up or down?

as already said you must have built it wrong, take it apart and build as per manual, step buy step paying particular attention to how you put the thrust race and center diff in place,ie lip facing male side of diff

Benjy1 15-03-2012 11:32 AM

Thanks very much to confirm are you saying that the lip should be facing down when I push it down onto the male outdrive? I promise I will use this thread for what it was started for when I finnish it Thanks.

As promised problem solved and car finnished it turns out it was a fulty diff and the female outdrive had no groove for the cir clip but my local shop DMS and Schumacher were great and replaced it there and then. First racing tonight.

Look again, the cougar is rear mounted. The other car is an SX3, which is front mounted.

Diff grease is included, there will be some in 2 clear bags. One of the bags will contain the diff balls with the silicone grease and the other contains the moly grease for the thrust race. As for threadlock, you will need to buy that for yourself.
