Sprucing up wheels
For years I've always used acetone to get my worn tyres off, but have recently switched over to steaming them off as it's less messy and doesn't leave the rims stained yellow.
Is there any way of revitalising my old rims to make them nice and white again? |
Not that will give awesome results......
Easy way is try cleaning with a neat APC like G101. Not so easy is making a thin paste out of Hydrogen Peroxide and bicarb soda, wipe over the face of the wheel, leave paste on and sit them in the sun light for a few hours (or under a UV light). That may well give better results but more involved. |
So hair bleach and bicarb basically?
If anyone hears a loud bang in the Kent area you'll know who it is :D |
Just don't go to the wholesalers down the road, cover your beard and ask for 12 bottles of bleach :D

After acetoneing, you can brighten up yellowed wheels by dusting them with some white paint.
I use createx airbrush paint. |
Astonish hob paste (comes with a non scratch pad) about £1.50 from B&M, removes all stains and black track markings.
