FTX Vantage

I don't think there is too much you can do to make it any more 'race ready' I know somebody who races a Vantage & most of it is standard, he does have trouble running brushless with the slipper ie, too much slip, he has had to wind it in so there is no slip at all. Not aware of any upgrade for the slipper though. It does run a 6.5T mind you.

He also thinks there isn't enough steering (travel) but again, that may just be the design & therefore not alot you can do.

I'd run it near on standard, don't run a very hot motor (8.5T maybe) & see how it goes, ok i think you'll find

ive got a 9t brushless i was going to put in it but got the combo with the 35a esc an from what ive heard about heat issues with 4wd drive i've now ordered the 60a esc, just starting out at moment so probably looking to udgrade model in future, just not sure about any other upgrades to do?

As far as racing in the NE , it really depends where you are and when you are available.
