X11 Steering..

I meant to post after Southport National...

In my last heat i found on the same corner on different laps, 1 time it would understeer, then next lap it wouldnt :o

On investigation, i found that the steering was fouling on the chassis.. You have the silver bar which passes through the chassis, then on each end you have the small counter sunk head screw etc which joins it to the rest of the steering..which just missus the chassis (or so i thought..)

It was catching on both sides, i checked to make sure everything was tight, be re-doing it all and it was.. to rectify the problem i dremelled part of the chassis where it was catching..

Anyone else had this issue?

Cheers

Nick

When i built mine up it did the same. With a quick blast of the dremel or sit a couple of 1mm washers under the steering rack and its fine. Make sure you use some thread lock in the screw to alloy parts of the steering so it doesnt work loose.

yes unfortunatley it is the same probem on all x11's but all i did was take a countersink and made the countersink hole on the bell crank deeper the the screw was completely flush with the bellcrank and it is silky smooth now.. i think when you add washers above the bell crank it makes the silver cross link rubb on the chassis causing it to bind. :woot: but hey i could be wrong.

Mine was fine Jeff after doing mine with the washers. The countersinks sat lower is the better idea i think.

it is a small 'error' indeed

something on paper can still me different when it's manufactured, a little dremel scratch solves it :)
